Being a day one Nothing Phone (2) who initially just felt let down end disappointed with the launch of the successor, I gave the new phone a fair chance and watched a number of videos and hands-on reports two days later. When the pre-orders went live, I ordered one right away.
I have been a mostly happy Nothing Phone (3) owner since over six weeks now and am very much enjoying this new phone. Is it perfect? No. But which phone is? I am still not really sold on the new Glyph Matrix vs. the previous light interface, in particular I am dearly missing the Glyph Timer of previous phones, a feature which has been completely removed on the new device. It’s also less distracting, which can be a good thing for some, but I always enjoyed the light shows fired by my Phone (2) when it was sitting on my desk. The new matrix is a lot more laid back. Also the single button interface is a bit awkward. So far I still fail getting a true benefit of the new concept, it feels like a step forward and backwards at the same time.
Yet Glyph Matrix aside, I absolutely love the new phone, the few minor complains I had from the predecessor have all been fixed and I really like the design, it looks much better in person than it does on photos and videos.
