All Nothing Phone 2 will lose MEET_STRONG_INTEGRITY on 6th of September?

Hi, I have checked the attestation key of my phone 2 (NOS 3.2 stock with locked bootloader) and I find out that the Vendor patch level will expire the 5th of September, because from May of this year Google has updated play integrity api, and now strong integrity required a security patch in the last year. But I found online that play integrity checks three different patch level: OS patch level, Vendor patch level and Boot patch level. But in my case the Vendor patch level il 2024-09-05 and Boot patch level is 2024-12-05. So, theoretically, if Nothing doesn't release an update in time the 6th of September NP2 will lose strong integrity. Hello everyone, I have some good news, in a way:

Nothing customer support told me that the development team has received the report and they are working on the patches.

So we can hope that an update will be released on September 5th 🤞

simdll thanks for the update, I’m glad they are in communication with you behind the scenes but I reckon that the severity of the issue should warrant some official response over in this thread at a much earlier time.

It is not very re-assuring that they seem to be caught dropping the ball at the eleventh hour, with the deadline of losing MEET_STRONG_INTEGRITY just days away. Not forgetting the recent issue regarding Phone 2a’s linux kernel patches.

The latest update bumped the Vendor Patch Level to 20241105 as reported by the Key Attestation app.

Hopefully by then we will already have received Nothing OS 4.0 with another subsequent bump to the Vendor Patch Level.

Unfortunately, I can confirm that my assumptions were correct! In fact, since this morning (September 6, 2025), my NP2, and also SonoAX , have lost strong integrity.

And I already know that with the latest update (V3.2-250828-1921), Nothing postponed the issue to November 5th, but I haven’t received it yet. This is because the rollout is staggered and I normally receive updates a week later, so now I’m missing strong integrity for a few days. Only because someone on the Nothing team didn’t bother updating security patches for an entire year.

So, this my status yesterday:

RapidZapper With respect to NOTHING, I believe argument made by the OP is that it shouldn’t have come this. However, the budget for dev time must be tight and stuff does fall through the cracks like this. (I would guess that all dev time is partitioned forward at least 6 months ahead of time as well. For example, there’s gotta be a decent sized team collecting tester feedback on the NP4a currently and optimising it for a roll out in Q2 2026.)

RapidZapper No. The update is only a temporary patch, because the new patch vendor patch will expire November 5th (and boot patch will expire December 5th).

It is absurd that a phone in 2025 has a security patch of the past year.

And the update isn’t available yet in Italy, so for some days I don’t have the strong integrity.

This is a is a big problem, and Nothing is doing literally nothing. They had a very bad communication and management of this issue, with leaking support service and lately update.

CMF1_hacker No, I can’t update with the update package from the nothing archive, because my phone has a locked bootloader. And the other method (that I don’t remember) from the phone dialer involves a factory reset.

CMF1_hacker N Phone 2 has unified (Global) firmware; only N Phone 1 also had EEA firmware.
