Camera config files for NP3 / NP3a / NP3apro (interesting)

Hi!

I was sniffing round the most recent camera APK that I could download (com.nothing.camera v 15.3.01.14.03) to play with the LUTs/etc… there is a newer version that I have for the NP3 that I can’t analyse at the moment.

I thought you’d like to see the breakdown of the configuration data for Asteroids (3a), Asteroids Plus (3aPro) and Metroid (3).

I must say that the 3a is very detailed … and the 3apro just extends that and the 3 is much less detailed. Also, it seems that the front lens flare (selfie) is being struggled with as shown by that variable there. There’s always little tweaks that are seen. This default NOTHING Gallery tools (original or Google Photos!)

So what exactly are you trying to do?

oliverwhite2711 nothing, just seeing what options are available. I was hoping that I use the preset protocol (prt:://) to do fun things but there’s not a lot that can be done with it so I started looking at the rest of the APK to see what was available. There’s quite a few filters and some skin tone corrections for example.

oliverwhite2711 the goal was to try to understand why when someone create a preset on phone 3 when another phone 3 download it there is the error message saying that it was created on a “better version with better options” and then not really usable as created.

Stereobasic I didn’t even get that far except it say that it’s more than about the Camera app version and the firmware in place. The configurations for the Metroid firmware started to draw my attention and it drifted to the AI Moon and other “hidden” options of the camera that I hadn’t used.

The device configuration file is more complex than I expected and I feel that we have slightly different hardware (you have to remember that I didn’t buy this phone and it came from NTL HQ directly. I assume it’s for the UK market but who really knows, perhaps it’s more of a global variant).

I was hoping there was extra code remaining somewhere that I could exploit for fun but that doesn’t seem to be the case. It’s a simple header.

Edit: what I would do is search for that error message in the decompiled APK, can you post a screenshot again of what you get so I can look through the APK for that precise string?

Stereobasic why on earth is it in french??? Is your phone set to french or something? Maybe the code was bundled and compiled In france and that why the error is in french?

Regarding what the error says:

have you actually tried making the code think it’s the “better version”?

I’m french living in Paris. I have learned (bad) English all by myself just reading forum ( At that time i have made a blog about Tenyo magic tricks and wanted to translate my french text, because majority of collectors don’t understand french so then i tried and learned little by little)

Pretty disappointed to see the AI moon thing in there, I’m not going to lie.

Who wants that? If I want a nice picture of the moon, I’ll go to the NASA site. If I point my phone at the moon, I want a photo of what it looked like, not the visualisations of some AI model

Smii I think every phone does this at this point, which isn’t exactly bad but I also kind of want to see what photos of the moon would look like without that specialized processing. I wonder where the line is crossed for “enhancing” an image or just generating a new one in this case too
