It seems they licensed photos from other photographers who did not use a Phone 3 to take the pictures. But they licensed them over Still website.

Couldn’t care less to be honest. Some mid-level manager ran out of resource (likely time) and made a poor decision.

CMF1_hacker Nah, I am not mad at all, as most manufacturers do this now. I just feel that Nothing said something misleading in relevance to the photos they provided.

The issue here isn’t about marketing or companies doing it or some manager - they are claiming the photos are shot with Phone 3 and the community - if indeed the car for example as claimed wasn’t even shot with the Phone 3 but they claim it’s been shot by the Phone 3 - then in the UK atleast that’s false advertisement and illegal under consumer rights laws

Tor probably splitting hairs here, but they likely wouldn’t run afoul of UK advertising laws. (And this is in NZ, should we be employing UK law there, perhaps there is some basis in Commonwealth frameworks). I have to read the T&C’s myself to confirm that it’s clearly stated that it’s from a NP3. I agree it’s misleading.

Honestly, in the best case scenario, I would expect that the photos would be taken with a Phone 3 but probably with extra equipment to attain the perfect shot (lighting, etc…) or even extra equipment physically attached such that it was a NP3 but not under real world conditions.

Maybe I’m too cynical but I wouldn’t expect to produce any of those photo with a standard NP3 in everyday usage.

CMF1_hacker I’m not applying UK laws anywhere - I am simply saying if was an occurence in the UK then under UK laws it’s false advertising - regardless of the law or jurisdication it occurs it’s still false advertising - perhaps its an innocent mistake or the wrong photos were sent out or something - either way not a good show tbh.

In the best case scenario I would expect the photo they say are taken with the phone 3 are actually taken by the phone 3 and not licensed from someone who shot them using a normal DSLR camera and not even the device in the question? If indeed the example of the Porsche is an accurate account .

Err_404NotFound well, it does indeed look like they’re in breach of the FTA and are updating the demos. It’s most likely the marketing team have to create the demo without the hardware itself to use to take photos.

(a) it’s good for NOTHING to be called out

(b) it’s good for NOTHING to rectify the situation

(d) people shouldn’t believe what they see by default.

Just read on Anorid Authority, article saying that picture shot on NP3 is not from NP3 phone but from other source….what is public opion.. is Nothing company fooling people. with cheap gimmick tricks

This company introduced some photos as samples of the community’s work and claimed that they were taken with the Nothing Phone (3). But in reality, all of them were taken from photostocks

(ready-made and for-sale photos on the internet).

To prove his statement, he provided a screenshot of the financial transaction with the payer nothing.tech.

This scandal shows that Nothing Technology has considered everyone fools.

The photographer of another photo has also confirmed that this image was not taken with the Nothing Phone (3). The photo was taken in 2023 with a Fujifilm XH2s camera and was published on social media in 2024

RapidZapper that’s exactly what I was thinking. The demo software has to be ready to go without having the final pics in place (due to timing). This reeks of ignorance/incompetence rather than maliciousness.

RapidZapper ok i was about to join the hate bandwagon but it makes sense. they cleared their intent and its fine considering this happened to only phone 3 not their other devices seems like it was honest mistake
