Design isn’t about how much you can add, it’s about how much you can hold back. When Gully Labs’s cultural storytelling meets CMF’s minimalism, the sneaker doesn’t just become footwear, it becomes a statement.

Behind the Design:
For this design, I wanted to respect both worlds. Gully Labs celebrates India through identity, culture, and storytelling. CMF, on the other hand, is known for clean, subtle, and intentional design. When these two philosophies meet, the result should be a sneaker that speaks a story while staying true to its roots.

While CMF is known for its iconic dual-tone finishes, I’ve reimagined that philosophy through dual materials, suede and leather. The contrast in texture adds depth without chaos, keeping it minimal yet rich. It’s that quiet detail that makes you stop and say ‘whoa’.
I drew inspiration from the CMF Phone 2 Pro’s iconic color palette - Black, White, Light Green, and that striking pop of Orange. Rather than making the sneaker loud, I wanted the colors to work in harmony, creating a subtle yet memorable design. The orange accents are placed with intention: not overpowering, but bold enough to give the sneaker its unique identity.
The silhouette remains the Gully 001, unchanged, because its simplicity is timeless. My belief is that sneakers should be wearable first, something you’d reach for daily, not just a collector’s item. While I can design funky sneakers with colors in random places, this design is one that balances minimalism with personality, making it universally appealing while still standing out.
This sneaker is my interpretation of what happens when Indian sneakers meet CMF minimalism. It’s subtle yet striking, perfectly at home on the Gully 001 silhouette, and true to both brands’ DNA.
BTW, this is my submission for the CMF × Gully Labs sneaker design contest.
