Rob ⚡️ changed the title to USB-C Audio Static - Phone (2) .

I also have dongle based on cx31993 and while I don’t hear the static on the output I have very loud static hiss on the input, so loud that I barely hear the mic. And the hiss is here no matter if headphones are plugged to DAC or not. I tested the DAC on pc and Samsung phone and there were no problems. Issue seems to be present only on my Nothing Phone 2a. Do you have this issue on your DACs and phones?

I have the same issue with my usb c to 3.5mm jack dongle with DAC and AMP when connected to Nothing Phone 2a. The audio output is working well but the input mic isn’t working. There’s just static when recording anything.

The dongle is working fine when connected to other devices

Same Problem in my Nothing Phone 2A i recently purchased a DAC type c to 3.5 mm jack but the micro Phone is not working. The moment I connect the converter a constant humming crackling or humming noise is picked up by every app that uses microphone. The connector works fine with every other device i tested it with, which is so annoying. Not only does this phone performs less in Antutu Scores from it’s competetor with same chipset but now this problem. May be purchasing this device was one of my worst decision ever.

In the latest update, the problem was fixed partly. The audio is being recorded but it’s not usable most of the times. Too much disturbance along with the recorded audio.

Rockett have you disabled dirac in sound options? Makes every USB DAC I’ve connected to the phone sound like absolute crap, including my jcally cx31xxx

I didn’t hear much difference. The crackling in the voice recording is present with it disabled as well.

The microphone-recorded voice quality is very bad in Nothing Phone 2, even after several updates. I already tried a Type C to 3.5 converter with DAC, a Type C to 3.5 converter without DAC, and a Type C headphone without DAC so far. The converter and Type C headphones without DAC is slightly better but NOT AT ALL useful. The recorded voice is such that some noise cancellation or something filters part of the voice. All these work well on devices from other manufacturers (old as well as new) without any issues. So, I am very convinced that it has to do with the hardware or the software of the Nothing Phone 2 device itself.

It tried this yes and I didnt notice a difference on or off, static was still there.

      Update:

So this issue still persists and using this phone with any dac dongle isnt a very good experience.

There is a partial solution though as mentioned by hamlinstephen, Use a USB C to 3.5mm dongle that does NOT have a built in DAC chip, this will work without introducing the static. They’re a bit rarer to find these days, but I found one on amazon from UGREEN that works just fine for £6.

MrMightyBun Hi mate, I’m facing the same issue. I bought Fiio JD 1 Type C IEM for my CMF PHONE 1. I heard a loud static whenever I activated google assistant or while I receive a notification. I returned it and I’m thinking to buy a Moon drop Chu II Type C IEM. I’m not sure whether the issue would be present again.
