EmilioSinclair I was absolutely ALL about lights. And then… now i have to admit that Matrix is very good too and even more subtlety beautiful. The shift in my brain was very interesting to experiment. I’m to the point I find the design of Phone 1 and 2 quite “ordinary” in its execution, not so beautiful after all. It’s very surprising. Even the way the light strips are arranged on the back of the phone doesn’t seem very inspired to me compared to the Phone 3 design. So yes, now i have the Matrix and i don’t really miss the lights at all. And if i have to make a choice i’ll choose the Matrix without any hesitation. A few months ago, I wouldn’t have bet a single euro on the fact that I would one day think this. So we can say that the team has achieved a miracle at this level.
The ROG phone integration is nice, but it’s more like an “N-gage vibes vs Gameboy vibes” and the Nothing very simple black and white in a circle is kind of more artistically pleasing. It’s very interesting. Low tech, tetris, sonar, sci-fi vibes and yes it’s very very cool if you have sensibility to that kind of design proposal.
Anyway the best design would have been to offer both, a little bit of light in the lower part of the phone + matrix. If the team had been able to do that, I think the story of Phone 3 would have been dramatically different and people would have embraced it.
