NOS 2.5.1 - Home Gesture - 3rd Party Launcher

Updated to NOS 2.5.1 today and immediately experienced a bug when swiping up to go home using a 3rd party launcher. When swiping up it does not return to/draw the home screen and the usual animation is not seen, instead it goes to a blank screen with just the wallpaper, and requires either a second swipe up or a swipe back to get to home, sometimes if you swipe right you see black/blank recents csrds.

Bug didn’t exist in NOS 2.0.4 - I wasn’t on the 2.5 Beta so can’t comment on that.

The issue seems to be the same as this A14 bug report: https://issuetracker.google.com/u/0/issues/277958980?pli=1

So far I’ve done a couple of factory resets with both a clean setup up and a restore from another Android 14 phone and the problem persists. It’s the same on Nova Launcher 8 and Microsoft Launcher (microsoft launcher is current preferred launcher).

The issue doesn’t exist on a pixel 7 pro on Android 14 and hasn’t since I was initially on the android 14 betas since July.

I’ve submitted a load of info on a bug report, but wondered if anyone else can confirm, or maybe even has a fix/workaround, coz it makes the the phone a right pain to use😂

+1 with this. I am now stuck with this issue on os 2.5 on phone 2. I have been looking for ways to rollback to 2.0.4 but the download link for rollback is dead.

Anyone can provide this rollback file?

No fix or rollback available. I have moved to nothing launcher for now. Please file a bug report, more reports more likely they fix.

This isn’t a nothing issue as such it’s been around but fixed on other A14 ROM like pixel etc.

Good to see it’s not just me but then from troubleshooting the issue myself I knew it would t be😂.

FYI my investigations points to nothing launcher causing the issues, the stock launcher controls such things as recents cards, when accessing recents you are actually accessing via the nothing launcher not the 3rd party launcher. Logs clearly show nothing launcher cancelling animations which I believe is what causes the issues

BIGDAVESNOKIA unfortunately Nothing Launcher is very basic when compared to Nova.. I’ll stick to it although it’s annoying.

I’ve also filled a report from the feedback section in the system settings (didn’t saw your post here with the ticket no…)

I agree I would much rather use a 3td party. I had been using nova prime since 2010, best purchase ever but recently switched to Microsoft launcher as it offers pretty much all of the functionality I use and is actively developed. Nova unfortunately has not had the development of old of late, even the v8 betas are buggy as hell on A14 (on my pixel 7 pro anyway).

You will prob have to jump through a few hoops with support but finally got them to refer to tech support. I will follow up after new year with em. Worth mentioning ticket number in your replies.

I must say I have got nothing launcher to work ok for me for now, it’s not irritating me too much with uta lack of customisation and to be honest the UI/animations are really fluid which is nice.

I’ve been also using Nova prime since 2013, amazing app.. Really hate it that’s not being developed as it used to be.. I thought that after being bought last year they would roll out updates more frequently.

I haven’t tried Microsoft Launcher lately, will give it a try (been using swiftkey and they’ve actually improved it since they bought it).

Regarding the Nothing Launcher, it’s not bad.. But i got used to all the good stuff in Nova and this feels pretty basic (AND yeah you can definetly tell the difference with the animations)

Having the same issue as everyone else the day the update was flashed. Hoping there’s a hot fix for this soon.

Just wanted to mention that I’ve found somewhat of a temporary fix: when you swipe up extend the movement with the finger slightly like you would pass the dock area (don’t just flick upward).

Btw, this bug is present in both smart launcher and microsoft launcher so it’s definetly a nothing os issue.

Yeah it’s still really inconsistent tho isn’t it. This is def an NOS or Nothing launcher issue as you say. Pls report and quote the ref of my original ticket that way I hope we can get this sorted sooner rather than later for all us 3rd party launcher users. Thanks for posting your experience dude

I have the same issue with Nova, which I presume is just an Android 14/Nova issue and not a Nothing issue.

Clearing app cache seems to help, but not always.

As someone already mentioned, if you’re a bit more deliberate with your movement (i.e. swipe up a bit higher and not just flicking upwards) that seems to improve things as well.

I have the same issue with the Niagra Launcher.

I’ve talked with Nova launcher team, the issue in Android 14 beta has been fixed in beta 4 or something like that, according to them it’s Nothing who need to fix their launcher.

While using 3rd party launcher gestures are still managed by system built-in launcher, in our case it’s Nothing launcher.

It’s not a Nova launcher specific issue since all 3rd party launchers are affected.

I chased this with support today as I’ve heard nothing for about 2 weeks from them.

To be honest I’ve been using the nothing launcher and getting by with it.

Yes can confirm it looks like fixed after a nothing launcher update yesterday. Awesome! Thing is I quite like nothing launcher now due to a few of the widgets🤣
