What I hope it is (this is my answer): I think the energy slider highlights certain ranges of EQ the further it slides, accentuating ranges related to a more energetic feeling. Probably first part is a sub-bass boost. then going further raises lower midrange for great guitar riffs, then as it gets further, more bass and adjusts vocals and upper treble a bit to balance it out - not a tilt to warm, but more contrast across the harmonic range. At max it sounds like you turned them up to 11. It probably does nothing in the ~500 range, but uses a point somewhere in there as the normalization for volume.

What I hope it is not: a slider on each earpiece to a physical vent that takes these from closed back to semi-open back. (this is not my answer)

I think the slider could adjust the ANC, the word “Energy” could refer to the amount of “energy” used to cancel out ambient noise. Higher ANC = more “energy” dedicated to environmental isolation.
