Is the YubiKey 5 NFC NOT compatible?

My new YubiKey 5 NFC security key is not working on my new Nothing Phone 3 (NOS 3.5)!!

1. NFC fails when using security key
2. Using USB-A to USB-C adapter, fails. (It also hides the keyboard when plugged in?!)

Is anyone else experiencing this issue? My old Google Titan Key still works with the same USB-A -> USB-C adapter but I need to upgrade my key. This same key also works on my Windows PC successfully. I will try to test another new key.

FYI When I plug in the YubiKey and try to use it for my Google account (already registered) the menu pops up and quickly goes away. I can’t change USB preferences in Nothing OS settings. When plugged in it still disables the keyboard.

If this is not compatible that would’ve been a gamechanger for me and I would’ve opted for the Pixel 10 over Phone 3.

Which version of the YubiKey 5 NFC do you have?

There is a legitimate reason why I ask…

I have 4 YubiKeys (2 NFCs, 2 non-NFCs). YubiCo about 6-7 months ago now upgraded the keys to a new version to combat a critical security problem. This hardware change was more than a mere firmware change - this was a complete hardware revision. I have the Nothing Phone 3(a), and I had to replace my NFC versions and they are working just fine. YubiCo support was super nice and sent replacements at no charge to me.

It could be you have the older hardware revision of the key and it might be playing up. If it has been less than a year since your purchase, contact them in regards to the issue and request replacements, that very well might clear up the problem.
