Nothing OS 4.0 Beta?

What’s the update with nothing OS 4? When is the open beta starting, or has it started already? Is there a roadmap? I am eager to test it on my CMF P1, but I know it is going to come last.

Anuzzi Last year for the CMF1, NOS 3.0 open beta rolled out in early-/mid-DEC. I would speculate a similar timeline for this year. Have a nice weekend.

Anuzzi As far as I have heard, there will be no beta update for CMF phones, they will get the direct stable update in November or December

CMF1_hacker nah if you watch closely on Nothing’s OS 4.0 the date on the lockscreen shows October 25 that might be a sign for the beta or the official release for 4.0

Xperiance Will the beta roll out of every device at the same time or will it come for the Phone(3) then the (2)s and then the CMFs?

Z_Aid dont need to plus it dont make sense teasing the OS 4.0 if they are planning it to release on December maybe for the CMF because they are just entry level. There are sources out there (taking it with a grain of salt) that Nothing will release the 4.0 around october

Anuzzi no one can predict the future but one can find a history of all NOTHING rollouts from NOS 3.0 open beta and speculate.

That is what I have heard. I think it will go something like this, Open Beta Oct 1st, and final around Oct 31st

KarlKeppler likely. I was referring to the CMF1 which was the last phone to receive NOS 3.0 OB. People were up in arms, IIRC, because the 3a/pro received the NOS 3.0 OB before the NP2 (or something of that magnitude happened, but the 3a/pro were newer).

3.0 stable was out a good while before the 3a series was even released, and they released with 3.1.

Theyve said they were going to do a staged Beta rollout, but general 4.0 release would happen in a much tighter schedule than 3.0.

as you rightly pointed out, the 3a was rightly released later.

the issue within the community, was that the open beta for the 2a came BEFORE the phone (2) as shown below. phone (2) users were upset that 2a had the update before the 2. the theme is the same as I wrote (and I did write IIRC) but the phones were different. here you can see that 2a had the open beta roughly 1 month before the 2. users were upset that the non-flagship was getting updated first.

also, there was a staged rollout for beta last time, as shown above, with the CMF1 last right before 2025.

They announced that the Nothing Phone 3 would be getting it during September and their last announcement was more than a week ago, it kinda feels like they’re waiting for the last available day to release it. That or something made them delay the release.
