Carl why there’s no big and major changes in nothing os 4.0 in terms of customisation and many more things like samsung ui and hyperos.

This is my current take on the shortest path of making the future happen.

There are no plans to charge for this, because we actually only incur costs when it generates, and after it generates once, an unlimited number of people can use it. The day to day running costs are manageable. Right now everything goes through human review.

How do you see essential space growing?

harrylaws3 We’re really amazed by the adoption already, it grew from 20% to close to 40% WaU in just a few months.

The first thing we did was to split off the team from the Nothing OS team so that we could iterate faster and ship new features irrespective of major OS releases.

Now we’re executing on a pretty exciting roadmap. Recently, we added Memory to it. Just imagine what value we could provide with more context…

As always, I want to ship faster and we’re actively adding more team members here.

Err_404NotFound I’d prefer to see that myself as part of the governments AI Opportunities Action Plan.

National infrastructure is great and I use Tier 1 and 2 HPCs often (and other national infrastructure) but I think NTL’s approach of on-device LLMs is interesting rather than funneling everything to HPCs, as that’s not scalable.

They also have definitely tapped into the Zeitgeist with that smoking Series C round as well.

Will Essential OS replace Nothing OS on the Nothing Phones and will it still be based on Android?

What we’re adding is a new experience layer on top: more personal, predictive, and adaptive. Think of it as Android at the core, with Essential making the whole system feel more fluid, coherent, and alive.

But then we figured that it was also a great name for where we want to go in the future with AI.

Carl by any chance the consistency across the Inter font will that be resolved especially on the status bar, especially if you use 4G, the 4 is not same as the battery percentage font or clock font that is still Roboto, same with 5 as a number. Have reported this multiple times also it was acknowledged by CBO still it is not resolved, if you need more information or screenshot I can give you that as well but please fix this.

This bug was introduced with NOS 3.0 Inter font.

Uday Hey Uday, when we say “OS,” we mean it literally: a system that helps you operate across your device ecosystem. Android is our foundation, it’s a great platform with a vibrant developer community and apps people already love.

In other words, we keep Android’s openness and compatibility, while making the whole thing feel more personal, predictable, and beautifully integrated. Nothing style.

CMF1_hacker Yeah, I believe some of the funding received from US tech corporations under the Tech Prosperity Deal that Donald Trump and Keir Starmer signed, will be given to Nothing to expand their AI operations. Hopefully the UK Gov sees Nothing’s AI push as a good thing for our AI tech drive in this country.

@Carl while the clean os is much appreciated, can we have more functionality as optionality. Basically features such as cloud storage, file manager.

A good way would be to acquire the good independent apps from the app store take their strong developed backend. Nothingfy it’s UI and release. Otherwise it will be just too slow and expensive to develop evething in house.

@Carl I see phone 2 is not upto the mark with camera improvements when presets rolled out. Please make some improvements in camera for phone 2 its feels like outdated compared to under 15k smartphones.
