I’m new to Nothing OS and the Nothing community. While exploring the features today, I came across the Essential Recorder in the Essential app. I read the three instructions on how to use it and followed them: I placed my phone face down, pressed the Essential button, and saw the backlights turn on. Then I started speaking randomly to test it out.
Afterwards, I flipped the phone face up and pressed the Essential button again, but the backlights stayed on. That confused me a bit—I even pressed the button again while the phone was face up, but nothing happened, so I ended up restarting the phone. Later, when I rechecked the instructions, I realised I was supposed to long-press the button again with the phone still face down to stop the recording. Rookie mistake, I guess!
But here’s my real question: how do you stop the Essential Recorder if you’ve already flipped the phone face up while it’s still running? Does flipping it back face down and pressing the Essential button work to turn it off? In my case, it didn’t—I had to restart the phone again.
