My phone is a Nothing Phone 2. I updated to the beta version 4.0. After updating, the phone is overheating and the battery is draining very quickly. Camera quality is also deteriorating. After clicking a photo, the light in the photo is gone, making it appear as if the photo was taken in the dark. I recommend that you never update to the beta version. Wait for the stable update, so your phone won’t have any problems.

First off I am glad basic things like Calling, Banking apps and data have not been affected. That’s good!

Issues:

I believe battery life has taken a hit by 15%-20%

Few lags here and there (considering its a beta we can ignore) but this needs to be fixed in next Beta and stable updates

Bluetooth connection is unstable

Extra dark mode not getting set on all the screens

Clicking on any option in settings and then going back the touch animation is showing, this might lead to screen burn in

Haptics are still not integrated while using volume or brightness slider

The default icon packs are good but when text is turned off they look very big even when the smallest display size is selected.

Expecting more lockscreen customizations and status bar icon redesign in next Beta update.

nothing app closing animation become very fast but there is not to the icons. before when I close the app the app icon feel jumpy little bit elastic effect , I believe they remove it . it was good though other os providing 4-5 type of effect nothing os with one effect is good. but they removed it.🙏
AOD brightness is more, any way to control it. I keep my phone near to me but some time because of bright scree I am getting disturb .
2*2 quick notification tile need to add more information because in that 2*2 more space is just blank. it unused.
any update to weather app is comming with respect to “dot engine” ? as promised while releasing the NOS 3?

Rob ⚡️ I would like to mention that if NOS 4 can’t satisfy the phone 2 users, please give an extra 1 year os support for the phone . Technically speaking the phone 2a ,2a other versions support upto Android 17 if am not wrong, so in terms of hardware if we speak phone 2 is way much capable than 2a models , so android 17 would work smoothly. Just an opinion………..

I still didn’t understand something

Why didn’t you just release the official update

The 4.0 is not like you updated anything new

Just some new open window and 2 clock faces that still can’t be changed to any size and colour

The camera app is buggy

I think you should work on YouTube pop up so we can have full video when we open it as pop up

Add the brightness togel at the top of quick settings

Give transperancy to quick settings with the wallpaper, it wouldn’t look like an outdated update

Just work more on visuals

Gallery app sucks, google photos is better

The beta is working a bit awkwardly. Some of the apps are laging a bit, also the finger print sensor isn’t working properly. As well as some of the functions are lagging a bit.

Also, the changes are too low to notice. Requesting some good changes in Open Beta part - 2 or in stable update.

Is it just a surface update with nothing playgrounds and a bit of UI changes (I personally prefer O.S. 3.0+ red colour in Quick settings,not the 4.0 colours) or actual AI features like Essential space, essential search, actually improved camera (they haven’t even improved the portrait mode from the beginning of the phone- still a long way from pixel and iphone cameras) , an AI native OS are actually coming to all phones on which they have announced?

Kindly, dont give the excuse of essential button not available in NP2 as a reason for lack of all these AI driven changes. Im pretty sure still that NP2’s engine is still as competetive as the current latest phones of Nothing. I still consider the NP2 as a forgotten masterpiece, that Nothing lost focus in improving due to shift to newer phones (which is why I still dont want to change this phone to any other version and the N.O.S 4.0 is presented - I’m seeing it as a shallow update, more like 3.5) .

Rob ⚡️ After the update, my proximity sensor stopped working. When I make a phone call and hold the phone to my ear, the screen does not turn off and the display responds to touch.

After this Update on my NP2,
2 Big Issues which are Haunting me.

There’s no BSNL Network. It always goes off with an “!” mark at the Signal Icon.
Unable to connect to any of my Existing Bluetooth devices. Done Reset of Bluetooth & WIFI lest, unable to add back my Moto Buds+ is also not happening.

Pls fix this ASAP.

In nothing 3.2 beta you could remove the notifications from the lock screen by pulling down the status bar and select clear all. But in nothing 4.0 I’m unable to do that. Also the transition of atmosphere wallpaper while unlocking phone is a bit delayed too. Anyone else facing the same problem?

Network issue is a nightmare for now, I do know I am in it’s beta, but am using it as a primary phone, so it’s bit concerning. Also wifi gets disconnected. And as for my sim connectivity randomly it says only emergency and no internet would be available, i checked with other phones and came to note that it’s only in tis phone.
