Essentialapp doesnt start ina call

Hey I just updated my essential space app to version 1.0.17. in the notifications it was mentioned that there will be a beep sound when starting phone recording. Ok . But when I am calling and try to start the app via essential

Space, it does not start the recording function

I tried to start essential app on my normal screen without calling. Than the recorder works normally.

Has someone an idea how to fix this?

Essential Recorder in calls is only available in countries in which it is not restricted. Check if it is restricted in your country or not.

From CBO’s post :

As of October 2025, long press the Essential Key while in an active phone call to start a recording. Currently available on Phone (3), Phone (3a) and Phone (3a) Pro in Great Britain, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Philippines, South Korea and Japan.

Thank you for the info. You know I have a very bad memory and I used the essential space for recording my own voice in a phone call to memorize my own words . I repeated an appointment for example and I had it as a not In essential space in my own words.

Is there any way to reach this?

That was one of the main reasons I bought this phone. My brain is damaged and I wanted to have a help in remembering talks and other stuff .

TobiasNitsche Oh I’m sorry to hear that. If you recorded calls before using essential space I guess you should be able to now too. are you pressing the record button before the other person on call lifts the call? if yes then actually the call recording only work after the conversation starts I guess.

I just tried this for the first time on FRI and I probably only get 2-3 calls per week.

I have a NP3 with NOS 4.0 beta and Essential Recorder v15, which I believe is part of the Essential Space app.

I believe this is part of Essential Space and the icon and the versions are the same.

When I tried it in the middle of a call, an audio message played that the Recording was in progress.

I noticed it available whenever I was on the phone. I pulled the phone away from my ear and I can tap the screen to start recording.

It summarised into Essential Space and I could listen to the recording.

The summary looks like this.

CMF1_hacker hi this might work for you cause you are living in the UK and you’re one of the rare countries in europe where this function is not restricted. See some comments above us . There it was mentioned. Hope to find a fix in some time cause if I don’t find any solution I’d might to buy an emotional device to enable phone call recordings. But this possibility was one of the main reasons I changed to noting

TobiasNitsche I’m curious how the phone determines what your location is? We should be on the same firmware, if you’re in the EEA, with the name TobIas.

Do you see Essential Recorder in the app list in system like I showed? If so, what version do you have?

Hi I just tried it out. So first I cannot find essential recorder in my app list . Although I can open it via essential space app. I also can’t find it in the play store

Second thing I noticed. When I am starting essential space without a phone call the calender sync does not start anymore. So if I say meet at the station at 09 o’clock tomorrow. I have the audio memo the audio to text version but I don’t have a synced calender entrie in my Google calender . Just before that update all those functions worked good. Hope to find a solution . So that I don’t have to buy a different device to do phone call records and summarys. When i try to record a phone call with essential key I received only a screenshot of my phone call and an empty*" voice recording "of one second
