is this safe to download will i lose any data?

Shady

Nothing with Nothing OS 4 looks like an update, not an upgrade.

TupePotato

I dont know why 3a update has different changelogs with NOS 4 compared to 2, 2a and 3. 🤔

Anonymous931

Shady Even Google calls is “update”, so it’s hard to really upgrade hardware (which “upgrade” would be) via software:

TupePotato Because everyone knows what’s in beta already, after 23-25 days of it being out, and these are just new and “new” features here.

PrajithP

shahriaravi min is also showing the samee. What to do ???

Rob ⚡️ OS 4 = OS 3

Disappointed 😞

PrajithP

NaVnEeThv what happened?????

I dont get it - Why so negative?

All phone companies are doing the same thing over and over again. While Nothing withstands to bring inovations and very flexible user experience.

Small changes are important and we should encourage them! Because they bring phones that it serves to people and not phones where people are a servant of a phone.

Be critical to changes, but not cynical

TupePotato

Anonymous931 ok that make sense. Thanks for clarifying

SerpentGin

If they are introducing bloatware, that is it for me. The only reason I bought Nothing was for the clean UI. I was hoping for some betterments in the camera shutter speed, but looking at the comments, it feels like a distant dream.

I’m not able to join the beta version

Some of the new icons are pretty ugly, old one was definitely better. Why so thin and generic? Essentials space, recorder are better, weather app is okay, I think I need to get used to it first. The rest? Nah
What’s the first 2 icons? Camera icon is also ugly. The hole is too big

Nobody asked for lock glimpse or do someone? Don’t see the porouse, maybe when community members could upload wallpapers then maybe.
Never used it in other phones I had but maybe I’m not the target or don’t see the purpose

Anonymous996

They added a feature called ‘Lock Glimpse’ that is basically an add on your lock screen

Bought nothing for no bloatware and clean ui

Sadly disappointed with software team

Maggi Goreng Lock Glimpse
I don’t mind new features, but I chose Nothing mainly for its no-bloatware philosophy. This one honestly feels a bit like an ad pop-up. (My mom’s previous Realme device had a similar feature, which is why I decided to get her a CMF phone instead.)

Same, it’s feeling a bit like bloatware, but I don’t think they’ll add ads so maybe I change my mind. All chinese phones have this but always with ads so there it is definitely

Anonymous996

Nicouschulas true i bought it for the same reason now I have to think about another company i guess

satvik_5wcs3qBRU8

shahriaravi I’m getting the same issue ! How can I update now ?

Sunny

What’s actually needed (we are not asking much here):

Revert icons to existing ones. They are perfect.
Haptics for browsing in the recent app switcher, volume bar, when you open the app drawer.
Screen unlock sound.
Camera improvements overall.
Removal of extra space on the top in every settings category. Android 16 vanilla fixed it. Nothing should also follow suit.
More ringtone and notification sounds.
Total removal of Lock Glimpse.
Add HDR support for Netflix.

SerpentGin If they are introducing bloatware, that is it for me. The only reason I bought Nothing was for the clean UI.

Again, bloatware (Wallpaper Studio) is already there for many months now, yet no complaining by anyone, all good:

Having an option of changing lock screen pics of your own choice as you want and IF YOU WANT, is by definition not bloatware.

Nicouschulas

Anonymous931
Wallpaper studio ≠ Lock Glimpse

Anonymous931

Nicouschulas
Talking about bloatware.

I mean:

Rob ⚡️ The feature is turned off by default. You can enable it anytime in Settings, refresh wallpapers, adjust your preferences, or choose to access it only by swiping left. Everything stays in your control.

Built with privacy in mind, Lock Glimpse will soon let you display your own photos on the lock screen, replacing all other content and making every unlock uniquely yours.

So what exactly is bloatware there?

So now, I won’t have one pic of my cat on my lockscreen but 50, a new one each time I wake up the screen; is that really such a bloatware? I already have those photos in my phone, I took them - how is that bloatware?
