Honestly? Its a but of an insult to call this Android 16. Unless the full roll out is going to have way more of the new Android stuff, theres hardly any update. No new notification system, no new Material 3 color picker, no transparent notification shade, hell - the new icons, despite BEING IN THE HEADER IMAGE FOR THE POST arenāt even a thing. Anything new from Nothing? A āplaygroundā to make ugly widgets instead of new widgets from Nothing, or even the community (Rahul had great mockups that just get ignored). New icons, that I kind of dig. Superblack, which isnt even system wide. A lock screen thing that appears to be widely panned. No new system anything.
The jump between 2.0 and 3.0 was amazing. So much new stuff. From 3.0 to 4.0? Hugely disapointing unless theyre sitting on a whole lot of updates that are going to ship with the Stable release, which is unlikely.
Its just such a bummer that its so bland and empty when the community has thrown out so many good ideas that could make the OS really special. Little things, like a more Nothing feeling volume center, or expanded Lockscreen clock custimization. I really feel like the community as a whole is being almost ignored when it comes to features they want and changes they suggest.
Add in just the utter lack of transparency when it comes to updates, and its really frustrating. I want a straight up, flat out explination on whats coming. Whats going to be included, whats going to change. Not getting basically any information until the beta launches, which is barely a beta, is a little⦠weird. I want to like Nothing. Hell, I have for a long time. But its getting harder and hard to.
