This is an interesting move from Nothing. A Nothing Phone 3(a) Lite? If Rob hadn’t used the tagline “Light Up the Everyday”, I would probably not be interested. Between the CMF Phone 2 Pro, the Phone 3(a), the Phone 3(a) Pro, and the Phone 3; adding a 5th phone to the lineup seems a little excessive unless there was something explicitly unique about it for it to be able to stand out on it’s own…
What features and pricing could it possibly have to fit it between the CMF Phone 2 Pro and the Phone 3(a) / 3(a) Pro?
I guess I am just not seeing the logic here… Don’t get me wrong, I am still remaining a Nothing user and I am not complaining by any stretch of the term. But, there is such a thing as diminishing returns. If the company wants to grow and continue reaching the ultimate goal of profitability - why a fifth phone in the lineup? And above all at their extremely reasonable price-points, why now?
Guess we will all have to wait until the 29th to see what they have cooked up and get Carl’s take on it to see what the justification is…
Could be the phone everyone always wanted? Who knows?
Also…
MiguelHernandezSantana Your logic would make sense, however Apple officially stopped production of the iPhone Air - they are finishing the current manufacturing batch and shutting it down due to tragically bad sales - I mean, those phones are selling WORSE than the 14/15/16 Plus - and the Plus phones sold WORSE than the 12/13 Minis.
Additionally, Samsung is not releasing another Edge phone for the same reasons. No one is interested or buying them.
Working for a major carrier here in the US, I can attest to this first-hand. Most people that purchased these devices have returned them within their return policy, or now they are stuck with a phone they completely hate.
I am curious to ask you what your thought process is as to how a “Lite” phone could be a “stepping stone” to tease “what’s to come”?
I am genuinely asking - not being a jerk or condescending.
@themountofmint I completely agree. Instead of putting out ANOTHER device, put out merch with the CMF or Nothing logo on it, like t-shirts, sweatshirts, hats, beanies, phone accessories, bags, stationary, pens, styluses, etc.. Anyone that supports Nothing would eat that stuff up in a heartbeat and they could even use one of the NUMEROUS shop services out there and not even have to worry about it. All they would have to do is upload graphics, pick their style, and make it live. Minimal work - all profit! Heck, if they gave me the assets, I would setup a shop for them in a single day free of charge just because I love Nothing and I believe in their work!
