Also - as a basic design use Phone 3a - it’s the ultimate basic form, not wobbly, not distorting esthetically. If possible, expose internals of the phone behind solid glass (Gorilla Victus 2). Use transparent aluminum oxide (TAlOx) for a case. Do not use polymers - they retain too much heat.

Furthermore, if you would pull off a modularity of Nothing aiPhone as it was done some years by Google on ARA Project, then Nothing aiPhone could become an ultimate COMPUTONE device for years and years to come because the initially high procie would be reduced in time by lower costs of upgrading through purchasing particular modules, not a new edition of aiPhone.

We do need real tools, not more toys!

You’re so far off AI or whatever you think it is…those are just paper specs you’ve seen somewhere and got somehow convinced that are practical or useful in any way.

Such requests are the ones are that devs and companies in general put aside the easiest.

JochieSantiago Sure, but it will serve for up to 7 years. I am willing to pay this because if you have to pay 400-500 euros every 1-2 years, then in 7 years you spend 2800-3500 euros for phones with which you can do nothing but call and play only. On the other hand with Nothing aiPhone 1a (or 4a) - you will ba able to pull off real jobs together with an AI model preinstalled on such device and times are changing fast - if you won’t be able to work with AI, then in a 1-3 years you will be replaced by AI.

virakanda oh definately. I would also pay good money for a Phone like that. But i feel that Nothing is not there yet. I dont consider the NP3 a flagship, more like a Plus model tier Phone.

Certainly but sometimes it is better to pull up all your resources and invest into one cutting-edge project that will distance you from the rest of the competition out there … Look at One Plus and their upcoming model 15 … I am sure that for instance Apple is already experiencing drop in sales of at least iPhone 17 because people are considering getting One Plus 15 with better specs. I feel like Nothing has now the greatest opportunity to jump from a low to medium player to a major player with a project like aiPhone computone. It is risky but what is not if you want to progress beyond survival only … ?

virakanda i have the Tecno Pova Slim 5G, kind of like a copy of the iPhone 17 aire and S25 edge. It costs around $270 and while its lacking some features

mixa This is just to highlight an idea, not to lay out a ready-to-use production plan. Surely, you don’t expect me here to pitch a full new architecture for a mobile AI-optimised computone, do you ?

Of course you have various smartphones with different, more or less advanced AI - features but this is not the point I am putting across - My proposal for an aiPhone aims at creating a true computone - a device combining the mobility and functions of a smartphone with the power of a desktop computer, optimised for AI-development. In other words I want aiPhone to be a portable companion to eg. NVIDIA DGX Spark AI station so that you can remotely work on developing your AI-model and not use AI in your phone to erase something from the picture or translate a language as you go. Its about working on the go with an AI in your aiPhone on your AI’s model code, come home and upload it to your base station or to use this AI on the aiPhone to create professionally useful apps for eg. biomedical, engineering, scientific applications.

I don’t want yet another minor AI toy, I want to have a full AI model on my computone with me at all times.

Sourav_Satvaya even 5000 euro if such device will solve real problems such as for instance become and AI-optimised platform for reading DNA sequences from micro-sequencers such as SmidgION from Oxford Nanopore. If it would be also undgradable to modular architecture as the ARA Phone was by Google, then it is better to pay these 5000 euros for the next 7 years then getting a new phone every year or two, plus laptop, dekstop and perhaps even a tablet … ONE DEVICE with multiple functions and Nothing else …

Hugo Look around … smartphone companies grow like mushrooms, every year they release few models … long term this is crazy for environment, for resources, for our pockets and at the end also - health. So, the most optimal way to tackle this is to build a solid standard platform - a base and develop various modules with various functions what actually Google already did with ARA Phone but for some reasons dropped this project after announcing it to the public as a fully functional, working first ever, modular smartphone - and nobody knows WHY? However we know tat companies want to max. their profits, so they want us buying from them a new phone every year because this is good for their business BUT - as I said above - it’s extremely bed way of developing anything, because few years down the line it will cause huge problems. So, why not to escape forward from all this competition and struggle and come up with a project that will have minimal impact on environment/health, will be easy to upgrade in software and most importantly hardware, due to modular architecture and will last for years to come not for a season or two. This is the real innovating challange. Making toys is easy, to make a tool for a more civilised age is hard but do we need to do only the easy part … ?

ZenithFr Why? There are so many new, unsold smartphones out there that can be re-used for some parts lowering the costs. There is also a possibility to 3D/print thing instead of CNC them. Furthermore, it is possible to address professionals with a small lot of such computones - this does not need to be immediately a mass production. It could be a niche product for those who do want more then just a radio-toy in a hand.

Hugo But lithium batteries should be prohibited at all. There are already other types of batteries available such as eg. sodium-ion and silicon-carbon batteries. New advances are being made based on nanofluidic concepts. Sustainable, replaceable, and long lasting phone will never happen because communication tech. and AI development happen very fast. For such phone to keep up it would have to be of modular architecture like the ARA Phone by Google was (dropped by Google after announcing it to the world - why? - unknown esp. that even today this phone gets good reviews overall). So we need a sustainable, MODULAR and long lasting phone.

virakanda Its not just the material’s cost, the cost I includes also certification cost royalties and such we can’t just take someones property and call it ours can we?
Recycling parts maybe doable (I am not an expert in that field)
Nothing is still comparatively really small company, and they are already leaning towards bloatware for revenue for their development.
what they could do maybe is squeeze out every bit they got and make the phone you specified and wait for 20-80 chance for it actually getting profit from that.
Well, I really don’t dislike a powerful device from Nothing but I would guess the company have to grow more for that to happen.

Its okay to suggest, but your aproach is like youre demanding for them to make this product as soon as possible like its the easiest thing to do. Do you even know how much Nothing has in their profit quarterly? And how many people from their team can outsource those materials and hardware?
