Sib64 Cool topic, looking forward to seeing people’s choices here, mine below:
1. Size of the smartphone - I’m including screen size in this too, as it’s important for me to have a nice bigger screen for all the media consumption etc. I also prefer a bigger phone to a smaller one.
2. Camera - Based on the last phone I purchased, I went for it because it had a pop-up camera which led to a fully uninterrupted screen. Since my phone is now 3 years old, anything next I’d like the future camera to be better in terms of it’s capabilities, UI and purpose.
3. Price - Competitive pricing is fine, but I always look at a phones price vs similar devices to see “Is it really worth that much, for what you’re getting?”
4. Storage - Needs to have a decent minimum, I’m not paying additional for cloud storage.
5. Processor - Speedy and no lag within the UI is key.
6. RAM - Same as above.
7. OS maintenance time and roadmap - I don’t buy phones each year, so the one I get must be able to last for at least 3 years before it needs upgrading moreso, due to hardware improvements.
8. Speed of bug fixes - Good to get updates on bug fixes ASAP, before people start to downgrade the phone (think of the Pixel 6 here).
9. After-sales service - Never really used this service but of course, it should be there and prompt.
10. Regularity of OS updates - So long as each major OS update brings something new to the table/fixes outstanding bugs, I don’t mind it not being as regular.
11. OS - I’m always going to buy Android phones regardless, so this is never part of my decision process.
