I was wondering why don’t this have Hotspot notification mentioning number of devices connected or better small number over Hotspot icon in status bar showing number of devices connected.

I saw this feature in any other phone I had realme OS , Xiaomi’s OS, oneplus OS,all have this feature

To easily detect if somebody else have connected which may reduce the net speed.happens with me a lot of time

read my OP properly, i clearly said the FileDash feature can share it to literally any device that supports WiFi and downloading,

and you don’t need to install any app on the receiver device, its another form of WiFi Direct.

it is a game changer especially when sharing files from Android/Windows to Apple devices is such a mess.

Anonymous931 Quick/nearby share almost never works on my families’ samsung phones so Localsend is also a good enough FOSS alternative. Downside: I’ve only gotten 10 mbps speed max once m, it’s usually 3-5

i know what quick share is and I’ve been using it for years(back when it was called nearby share)

the whole technology sucks because a lot of devices are not detected in time and the feature where iOS can access files from quick share, it’ll use your internet.

you should check how FileDash works:

Anonymous903 You will have to check through settings of those devices I guess. Can’t say anything else than that as it would be guessing and giving potentially false info 🙁 But the feature generally works great (unless people lie about it for years at this point, lol).

I’ve never had a single issue with it personally (with multiple devices), and speeds are excellent (about 800 Mbps to 1 Gbps on my 3a to and from my laptops, about 400-600 Mbps between my 3a and other phones (cheap Redmi 10C and iPhone 16 Pro)). Speeds depend on many factors when sending or receiving from other people but I just sent a 2.5 GB movie file to my friend yesterday on his iPhone 15 and it was successfully transferred in less than two minutes.

LocalSend is indeed great, btw. I’ve used it many times and couldn’t find anything to complain about it.

Anonymous931 Reread their message, they meant they want to be able to send files without any special tech on the receiver’s phone except wifi—probably meaning opening a local address on the browser to download the file. Which can be done with the share as link feature of localsend.

Pretty easy to implement but I doubt nothing is going to put the effort into a super small feature like this

Literally Quick Share, I even posted a video before showing that 😃

There, once again:

OnePlus decided to ditch FileDash some five years ago, and replace it with Quick Share completely, because Quick Share is simply EVERYTHING what FileDash was - just better.
