Nothing can you guys make it so when in the camera app and you select pro mode that you can select the 50MP camera instead of it being locked to the normal 12 megapixel.

Because right now in the current expert mode all we have is the raw option which is no better than the normal 12MP.

I tested the various modes extensively and honestly didn't see a huge difference in quality between the raw 50MP sensor output and the binned 12MP output. The images were extremely similar.
Although - that app you're using isn't the included Nothing one, is it?

Smii I'm no expert on cameras but from what I've read on stackexchange, the individual pixels are too small to capture enough detail together without blasting a lot of light at it. But binned, especially when zoomed in, they still produce better images than a normal 12 mp sensor

Smii the screenshot I provided in that post is not from my nothing phone it is from my previous phone which cost like $300 super cheap it's a oneplus Nord N 10 super cheap but it has a really good 64 megapixel rear camera and that phone in the base camera app in the pro mode you can select the 64 megapixel camera as that's the reason it's 64 and not 50 and in night time scenarios or low light scenarios those extra pixels do a lot of work they make for a lot better photos and that's coming from someone who has tested the 12MP camera in the same low light situations and it gets grainy not because it's low light but because it's using the 12MP.

Edit: also I don't see any reason why the 50 megapixel camera is not available in the expert mode or pro mode on the nothing phone it makes no sense why it's not a thing, it's clearly a thing they have the capability to do because in the same menu without expert mode on the nothing phone 3A you can select between the 12 megapixel and the 50 megapixel so it makes no sense why it's not in the expert mode when the expert mode is supposed to have more options, so it doesn't make any sense for them not to and I've already made a request through the feedback section in the settings and they said they would look into it.

Johnathan_ybq32Mz7rX I went down that rabbit hole, and as far as I know no phone manufacturer allows full resolution images (with more than 12MP) in expert mode. That's why expert/pro modes are mostly confined to 12 MP. I think sonce pro modes often provide raw image support, this is to prevent people from flooding their phones with huge raw images, that look too noisy for most people, but i'm not sure.

I hope Nothing will allow users to take 50MP raw images in expert mode, or at least 50MP non-raw images or at the very least allow third party apps to capture full resolution images, but looking at common practices in the smartphone world, I am not expecting them to do that.

mozno the fact that I included a screenshot shows you didn't look very far. As Samsung doesn't allow in the default camera app but Samsung has a app specifically so people can have pro mode settings on the 200MP sensor and OnePlus allowed it on their phones up until the OnePlus 15, xiaomi also allows you to do this on their phones again proving you didn't actually look. Like even Apple allows you to do this on their phones like that's how common this is. Also the nothing phones use a 50MP camera not a 48MP camera so it would bin to 12.5MP not 12.

Johnathan_ybq32Mz7rX yeah sorry i have to correct myself, other manufacturers allow full mp (but my oneplus 9 pro did not btw) in expert mode, but I was mainly looking into full mp, non pixel binned raw captures. As far as i know almost no manufacturers allows this in their stock foto app.
