Today, we are officially starting the public rollout of Nothing OS 4.0, powered by Android 16. This update is experience-led, fast, and thoughtfully designed. It builds directly on the foundation of OS 3.0, but strengthens the core experience across speed, consistency, and interaction. From new minimalist icons that help your brain breathe, to interactions that move smoothly at speed, this update is about removing friction. We’ve tightened every part of the system. UI components now follow a more coherent structure, iconography has been refreshed for clarity, and animations have been reworked so navigation feels more responsive. Nothing OS 4.0 is a step focused on fundamentals. Faster responses, cleaner visuals, smoother interactions, and a platform that’s ready for what comes next. ### Refined by You We didn’t get here alone. The Open Beta Test gave us the real-world data we needed to finalise the feature set. OBT builds focused on a limited set of areas so we could isolate issues and prioritise what mattered most. Now, with the full rollout, we are introducing a wider set of refinements based on everything we learned together. * A lot of users highlighted areas where the visual experience could feel more consistent. This led to updated status bar icons, refreshed first-party app icons, deeper Extra Dark Mode coverage, a cleaner lock screen password interface and smoother animations. * Many shared thoughts on multitasking and day-to-day flow. That shaped improvements like a refined Pop-up View with Dual Windows, 2x2 Quick Settings tiles, more widget sizes and the ability to hide apps in the App Drawer. * There was also strong interest in having more glanceable information. This helped bring Live Updates to the lock screen and to the Glyph Interface, making rides, deliveries and timers easier to follow at a glance. themountofmint I’m not talking about getting the update on day one.

I’m a Phone (2) open beta tester, and the beta has had major bugs for 45 days now.

If an open beta is full of issues, then the company should provide bug-fix updates, not leave users stuck with lags and 5+ restarts a day.

Whether someone else is complaining or waiting patiently is not my concern.

I’m questioning Nothing because I paid ₹55,000 and I don’t want fake promises.

As a customer and beta tester, I have every right to ask for proper up

dates.

jamshi993 you’ve answered you’re own question - the clue here is Beta tester. If you’re not happy with the beta version then roll back to the last stable version? When you agree to be a beta tester you’re warned they’ll be bugs, your phone may not operate properly etc. P2 is getting NOS4 at some point in the near future as stated by the announcement - where’s the fake promises?

jamshi993 normal user should not update to beta os and if they do , not on a primary device… I’m not saying that you’re in the wrong… but if you’ve much problem with beta you should have rollback to 3.x …

I think 3a series will get stable update around/after 1st of December… (mentioning dates because some people in thi community doesn’t understand weeks🙂)

Nothing promised bi-monthly security patches. We’re still stuck on the September patch, so that itself is a broken promise.

I also tried to rollback, but it wipes all data, which is not a practical solution for daily-use users.

And this isn’t my first beta. I was an Android 15 beta tester too, and there were no issues like this.

A beta tester expects regular bug-fix updates based on feedback, not 45 days of silence while bugs get worse. No company leaves beta users with major issues for this long.

That’s why I’m asking for updates — not for fun, but because the situation is genuinely bad.

We all knew going into the beta that it’s a beta that that a rollback means a wipe. No one is going to feel bad for you here, you didn’t have to sign up.

megatomic I know beta means bugs — I’ve been a beta tester since Android 15 and never faced delays like this.

The issue isn’t the bugs, it’s the lack of updates for 45+ days and missing the promised bimonthly security patch.

Rollback isn’t a real solution for daily users since it wipes everything.

Beta testers give feedback to help improve the build, but without timely updates, that feedback goes nowhere.

I’m a Nothing phone 3 owner and trying to update to OS 4, whenever I go to system update it states there is no update available? I’m still on Android 15 and OS 3.5

KyleBreach me too. It hasn’t reached all the phone 3s yet which sucks. Honestly it’s been 5 days it’s kinda bad that it hasn’t reached all the phone 3’s yet….I understand phased roll out and all that, but I paid a lot of money and stuff and I’ve been waiting ages. It feels like most of the community has the update and I’ve been told it’s coming soon, but we were also told that 5 days ago…

I get that I’m being impatient and everything and I shouldn’t really complain but it’s very annoying and frustrating

It was like this since 2a came … which was only one year later if I am not wrong…after one year they forgot about the flagship …and since then 2 was almost the last one receiving the updates 🙂.

You cannot even find a NEW Phone 2 on market anymore and the [used/new] ones you find are more expensive than phone 3 😃, so worth selling it now as you’ll get more on it USED than you paid years a go as new and this just because it still has Glyph.

hey Nothing team, this feature can be essential thing who mostly used hotspot for works like me,

so many people doesn’t uses fibre networks or modems for work they often share data from their devices so if how many devices,how much data has been shared appears in pop view notification panel this could be really useful so doesn’t mean that we always you know to go to settings and then click connected devices and check which devices are connected is it really defines the minimalistic of nothing motto,fun to play rather than just clicking it in one place from notification panel for taking every actions example i have attached the screenshot of my secondary device
