Today, we are officially starting the public rollout of Nothing OS 4.0, powered by Android 16. This update is experience-led, fast, and thoughtfully designed. It builds directly on the foundation of OS 3.0, but strengthens the core experience across speed, consistency, and interaction. From new minimalist icons that help your brain breathe, to interactions that move smoothly at speed, this update is about removing friction. We’ve tightened every part of the system. UI components now follow a more coherent structure, iconography has been refreshed for clarity, and animations have been reworked so navigation feels more responsive. Nothing OS 4.0 is a step focused on fundamentals. Faster responses, cleaner visuals, smoother interactions, and a platform that’s ready for what comes next. ### Refined by You We didn’t get here alone. The Open Beta Test gave us the real-world data we needed to finalise the feature set. OBT builds focused on a limited set of areas so we could isolate issues and prioritise what mattered most. Now, with the full rollout, we are introducing a wider set of refinements based on everything we learned together. * A lot of users highlighted areas where the visual experience could feel more consistent. This led to updated status bar icons, refreshed first-party app icons, deeper Extra Dark Mode coverage, a cleaner lock screen password interface and smoother animations. * Many shared thoughts on multitasking and day-to-day flow. That shaped improvements like a refined Pop-up View with Dual Windows, 2x2 Quick Settings tiles, more widget sizes and the ability to hide apps in the App Drawer. * There was also strong interest in having more glanceable information. This helped bring Live Updates to the lock screen and to the Glyph Interface, making rides, deliveries and timers easier to follow at a glance. JochieSantiago If they called it 3.6 it would be fine because there was no prior expectation for massive changes. People bought a minimal phone then wanted little changes that they did deliver on. Marketing it as a big update feels bad

Now I’m hoping for a 4.1 and .2 updates to fix the many bugs people keep posting about here especially battery

CMF users didn’t get any beta and still have to wait to get this minor type update. Do better Nothing.

You guys are not as big as Samsung or Xiaomi yet. Stop making too many variant of the phone and focus more on delivering consistent update for all devices. Even the new 3a lite have to wait till January next year to get this small update…..

AxelThompson Fast? They could have been faster. NOS 4 is more like a bug fix update rather than a major OS update. Yet, they are taking longer than they should be. CMF and NP 3a lite took the hit. This is what happens when you focus on quantity over quality.

Zac nothing changed in Nothing phones. Every time we open the camera app, HDR gets automatically on and if you do turn it off and then open the camera next time, again HDR will get on. Please focus on these small things. And also AI totally make the photo trash. When I took any photo it looks good in preview but when I look at the actual photo, it gets totally trash by AI. Please stop it and also please add some real time customization like animation in lock screen, AOD, or in fingerprint animation. Totally dissatisfied from this update and totally trash also. Also you should add AM and PM in home screen status bar time(clock). Garbage 🗑️ update from you. not expecting that.

Im a phone 2 user and yup the thing that you said is true. Well they are new to this market so they do make mistakes. The thing that i feel to be the main mistakes is releasing too much products. When phone 1 was released they took enough time and gave enough care for phone 1. Phone 2 at the first got enough care but after the release of 2a series and cmf sub brand the whole company is struggling to manage their promises. I know they are trying to gain max profit by selling too much products but their direction seems to be in a wrong way ngl
