This is a continuation of my earlier thread on screen protectors for the Nothing Phone 3, and after more time testing both Supershieldz and Mr. Shield, I wanted to share a full update on how things held up.
Initial impressions:
Smooth, premium feel
Crystal-clear with no touch issues
Edges fit cleanly with my Ultra Hybrid case
Two protectors in the pack is always helpful
Real-world performance:
Mr. Shield had the better clarity and overall feel, but the adhesive turned out to be the deal-breaker. One corner lifted early on and needed pressure to reseat. Even worse, the replacement eventually failed completely — the glue let go across an entire edge and wouldn’t bond again.
Supershieldz stayed adhered slightly longer, but the oleophobic coating was noticeably weak and wore down quickly. Overall long-term quality just didn’t hold up.
Installation advice — skip the printed directions:
Most instructions still suggest the “quick press” method, which almost always leads to bubbles or dust. The hinge method continues to be the only consistent approach for a perfect install when no applicator frame is included.
Foolproof hinge method:
Clean the screen thoroughly
Keep the display on for easier alignment
Tape one side to create a simple book-style hinge
Flip open, peel the backing, and lower it along the hinge
Turn the screen off and smooth everything out with a wrapped card
This delivers perfect alignment and a bubble-free result on the first try.
If you need to lift and reseat a corner:
Use a thin plastic tool like a guitar pick — avoid metal tools or fingernails to prevent chipping or scratching the glass.
Final thoughts so far:
After trying both brands, I can’t confidently recommend either one for the Nothing Phone 3. Mr. Shield feels nicer but failed completely on adhesive. Supershieldz is usable in the short term, but the weak coating and overall durability make it hard to rely on.
Next step:
The Ringke Easy Slide protectors recently became available, and I’ve ordered a set. Once they arrive and I’ve had time to test them, I’ll update this thread again with a full comparison. Hopefully they finally offer the right balance of clarity, adhesion, and long-term reliability.
