Since the Nothing OS 4.0 update, my Phone (2) no longer feels smooth at all. The volume slider lags for no reason, pulling down the notification panel stutters, and switching between apps quickly often shows a brief glitch where the previous app flashes for a split second. Sometimes scrolling Instagram feels extremely choppy, almost like scrolling at 10 Hz. When I minimize Instagram, the rest of the UI becomes perfectly smooth, but reopening the app sometimes fixes the issue randomly.
The gallery feels completely unoptimized. At times, after taking a photo, it never finishes processing. I cannot delete, share, edit, or even hide the photo. It just stays stuck on āloading photoā forever. The only way to fix this, along with most of these issues, is by restarting the phone. I now have to reboot every one to two days just to keep the phone usable, which is extremely inconvenient.
Nothing OS 3 was nowhere near this buggy or unstable. OS 4 initially felt smooth, but that did not last. This update feels unfinished and poorly optimized for Phone (2), which is especially disappointing since this was supposed to be its final major update. I had high expectations, and honestly, you missed the mark badly.
After three years, the camera processing is still terrible. All we received was a new UI and interface, but the same old problems remain. There is still a noticeable delay when taking zoomed in photos in low exposure. 4K 60 fps video still lags for the first one to three seconds, which is an issue I have been reporting since before OS 3. The camera app overall feels slow and buggy, and there is still no lens switching at 4K 60 fps, which makes no sense.
OS 4 feels laggy, unoptimized, and unfinished. I would have been fine with fewer features if the experience was at least smooth and stable, but it is not. Even the feedback page has been downgraded since OS 3. The FAQ section is completely empty now, which honestly feels careless.
Extra Dark Mode is still not applied consistently. Some settings menus and even the app drawer remain grey. These small inconsistencies add up and make the entire experience feel sloppy.
Graphics performance on Phone (2) also seems to have taken a hit. I ran benchmarks and the scores are significantly lower than they were on OS 3. I still play PUBG, but it no longer feels as smooth as before and lags more frequently.
I expected much better from Nothing. This has been a genuinely disappointing experience, and I regret updating to Nothing OS 4 as the last update for Phone (2) , shamelessly Nothing only provide 2 proper updates for phone 2, It launched with Nothing OS 2.0 and is ending with Nothing OS 4.0, with only 2 proper updates in between and naming it 3 years of software updates and 4 years of security updates. YOU COULD DO BETTER FOR PHONE (2), NOTHING !
