Let’s first talk about the design, “the elephant in the room.”
I would say, “I love it ! ” because these days, I’m tired of the same old, boring designs that smartphones bring to the table—for example, Apple, Samsung, and Motorola. “I kind of hate the same old boring design, but these days we don’t have many options, especially if you are locked into an ecosystem.”
This device will be your choice if you are looking for an exclusive design specifically for non-boring people and those who want to try out new things.
I have been in a tech world for over a decade now, and I’ve seen countless companies try to reinvent the wheel. After a while, a new phone release often feels like a minor iteration. But Nothing, under the leadership of Carl Pei, has consistently refused to play by the rules. When they sent me their new Nothing Phone 3, I expected something interesting.
After 28 days of using it as my daily driver, I can tell you this: for those who crave a fresh, cohesive vision of what a modern flagship phone should be, the search for a truly innovative device is over. This isn’t just a phone; it’s a statement, a pocket-sized piece of future-forward design.
I was so compelled by how seamlessly Nothing has integrated its signature aesthetic with genuinely useful features like essential key and glyph matrix that I had to write this passionate breakdown. Here are my thoughts.
Unboxing and Build Quality: 10/10
The unboxing was really good. It comes in a package where the box has an image of the Nothing Phone (3)—specifically, an ultra-zoomed-in picture—on the outside. Cutting through the tape and lifting the lid, Nothing keeps its packaging sparse but stylish, ensuring a satisfying peel-and-reveal.
The phone itself feels incredibly premium. Lifting the phone out of the box, you notice the substantial weight. About the build quality: it’s 10/10 because it’s a solid build with an all-aluminum frame and glass on the front and back. Gone is the plastic feel of some competitors; here we have tough Gorilla Glass front and back, all sandwiched by that robust, recycled metal frame.

The construction is rock solid, earning its flagship status with an IP68 dust and water resistance rating—a welcome and necessary upgrade. What’s Inside the Box?
- 1 x USB Type-C to C Cable (transparent design)
- 1 x Transparent SIM Tray Ejector
- 1 x Screen Protector (pre-applied)
Essential Key & Glyph Matrix: 9/10
Let me be straight: I love the physical Essential Button not because I am writing this article, but really, I love how soft and smooth it is. I wish the Power button were the same as the Essential Button in the upcoming phone.

It supports five apps tops, but I talked to the community, and based on the feedback, they are updating that soon! It’s really useful if you are using this phone as an office phone, for meetings, and especially for designers, it’s really useful!
So, what about the Glyph Matrix? To be frank, I really thought it was a gimmick feature, until I started using it. For 28 days, I haven’t checked the time on my regular device or even my wristwatch. To be frank, I always check the time and battery over the Glyph Matrix.
The Display & Entertainment: 10/10
The display gets a 10/10 for entertainment and overall quality. We’re looking at a super bright 6.67-inch OLED panel featuring a smooth 120Hz refresh rate, 960Hz PWM dimming for eye comfort, HDR10+ support, and an incredible 4500 nits peak brightness. I honestly don’t think people need anything more from a smartphone display.
I watched the whole season of Stranger Things on it, and I must say, I am 100% satisfied with the overall color calibration and viewing angles.

We’re not going to dwell on the specifications here, because you can find those all over the internet! But I am damn sure that once you use this phone’s display, you are going to love it, for sure! If we talk about reflections, they are normally low—this is not a very reflective screen. I can also confidently say it is 100% safe to use in -20 degrees Celsius and also in high temperatures.
Let me tell you, the phone never got heated up like other brand phones, such as Xiaomi, Realme, and iPhone. The thermals are really good. I even tried using it while simultaneously charging the phone and watching Stranger Things, and the thermal performance was truly very, very good.

Performance (Processor) & Front Camera: 8/10 (The 93% Reason)
I also had high hopes for this device, and guess what? It complied with 93% of my expectations. Why 93%? I will share that with you in this brief. If I sound like a tech lover, Hell yeah! I am . 93%? Yes, I will share the reason with you upfront because it would be boring and a waste of time if you didn’t get the answer/reason right away!
What I think is needed to be a game changer is this: if the processor and front camera are replaced, and if they release the phone as the Nothing Phone 3 Ultra, damn and bang on, it will be a true flagship killer. Let me be straightforward: I have used the Nothing Phone 3 for more than 28 days, and I am telling you, from my own experience, it should have the Snapdragon 8 Elite and a better front camera.
So, “What about performance?” You have definitely watched a lot of videos over the internet by now, and you might definitely think, Why am I reading this? But let me tell you, I am 100% sure that if you spend time with the device, you would definitely share this sentiment with tech people, just as I am sharing it!
The Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 is definitely a good processor, but that adrenal rush and confidence you want, like, “I have the best phone,” or “I have a very dependable phone for tasks that won’t be possible otherwise”—this only happens to tech people. For average and regular users, they won’t find even a blink of lag.
By saying this, “You won’t find any lag, app crash, or even lower performance at all after Nothing OS 4.0.” However, it definitely lags during demanding gaming. Since 60% of people on earth aren’t playing demanding games, and lower-end games work perfectly fine, I cut the deficit to 5% from 100%.
Okay, okay, this is too much talk about the processor, but what about the front camera?
Let me tell you, this looks like cost cutting. Here, on paper, it sounds like a 50MP front camera. No, no, it must perform like a 32MP shooter because it still needs that color vibrant pigment and needs improvement, even after Nothing OS 4.0. I also have a Google Pixel 9 Pro XL and iPhone 16, but this camera is never close to those phones, just for the front camera!
So, is it that bad? No, I like to exaggerate things , but only for the front camera. And I’m happy you read this much, so you would love to read what’s next, wouldn’t you?

Camera & Video Recording: 9/10 (Rear Cameras)
Let me tell you a fun thing. This happened last time when I was recording with the Phone 3: one guy (age between 32 – 36) came up to me and asked me which phone this was. I live in Canada, you know, and in a town like Ajax, people usually don’t approach you to ask anything. But I found people were like, “What is that! I mean, how!” People don’t know about such a successful brand like Nothing, and then I realized that people aren’t aware of the phone brand, “Nothing.”
I like the community program, especially what the Nothing community team is running for the Nothing Phone 3. Ah, where were we? Oh, we are talking about the camera. It’s easy to say that all three back cameras come with a 50MP sensor. I love the main/primary sensor; it’s one of the best out of the three.
Here are the links of every mm camera zoom and options available in the camera app – Camera Samples (Colour Re-Production)
I must say, the Periscope lens is also best for macro pictures and portraits. Here are some more shots you are going to love it – Camera Samples (Over All)
I really enjoy taking pictures, and now let’s talk about the video recording. It’s also really impressive, but when you really, really compare it to an iPhone in the top bracket, it will always be comparative.
It supports up to 4K 60fps for front and back. I think that’s what people usually capture, and based on all that, it’s really important to note that the front camera supports lower resolutions like 1080p, 60fps, and 30fps. They capture better low-light and quality compared to 4K, though it should be the opposite, isn’t it!
Let’s talk about the night shots and videos: they are pretty good compared to the price they are offering. I won’t compare it with a $1,600-$1,800 iPhone because you can’t.

Connectivity: Seamless and Strong: 10/10
I never had an issue with call drops or Wi-Fi signals. It always has more signal bars compared to my iPhone 16—always one or two bars more than it!
It has the all-new Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6, and I am damn sure you will love the connectivity. Also, there is a specific option available under Experimental Features that supports the AirPods. Now you can see everything, even the charging status of the individual buds.
Battery: A True Two-Day Phone: 10/10
I must say, I was really, really impressed by the 5,150 mAh battery performance. It’s truly a two-day battery phone. It supports up to 65W charging and 15W wireless charging.
It also supports reverse wireless charging, so you can easily charge earphones and wireless TWS buds.
Price & Final Thoughts
So, after over a month of use, here’s the bottom line. With a starting price around $799 USD (for the base model), the Nothing Phone 3 is positioned as a semi-flagship device.
When you weigh the entire package—the gorgeous, bright 10/10 display, the incredible two-day battery life, the revolutionary Essential Key, and the fun, highly capable triple-50MP rear camera system—it’s an outstanding value. The only aspects holding it back from being a true “flagship killer” are the processor choice and the underperforming front camera, which accounts for my 93% satisfaction rating.
However, the Phone 3 gives you something no other device offers: a distinctive aesthetic that literally makes people stop you on the street, and a clean, fast software experience backed by a passionate community.
If you are tired of the standard smartphone design and want a device that excels in daily usability, battery life, and overall style, the Nothing Phone 3 is the easiest and most fun choice on the market. I wholeheartedly recommend it.
