Issue downloading SlideShare presentations on Nothing OS (mobile browser)

Hello everyone,
I use my Nothing phone mainly for educational purposes, especially to view and download SlideShare presentations for study and reference.

However, I’ve noticed that on Nothing OS (using the default browser or other Chromium-based browsers), SlideShare presentations often don’t download properly. In some cases, the download button doesn’t respond, embedded slides fail to load fully, or PDF exports don’t work as expected on mobile.

This makes it difficult to save study material for offline use. I wanted to ask if this is a known browser/WebView-related issue on Nothing OS, or if there are any recommended settings or solutions to fix this.

Would appreciate guidance from the community or the Nothing team, as many users rely on SlideShare and similar platforms for learning.

David Wilson Hey David! It seems to me that it’s mostly a SlideShare + mobile browser limitation, rather than a NOS issue.
I’m on Phone (3a) Pro and the download button worked for me on Brave browser.

I could suggest you a couple of things:

Desktop site mode: on the browser, open SlideShare website > Tap ⋮> Select Desktop site. This should make download buttons work as expected;
SlideShare Downloader: On the PlayStore (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=msr.msw.slidedownloader) there is an app that lets you input a SlideShare URL and it downloads the slides;

Some extra feedback could be checking in your [Settings > Developer Options > WebView DevTools > WebView Crashes] if there are any crashes reported after you tried to click on the “Download” button.

Leoth Thanks a lot for the detailed suggestions, really appreciate you taking the time to test this on Phone (3a) Pro 👍

I tried switching to desktop site mode and it does improve the visibility of the download buttons in some cases, so that’s definitely helpful. I’ll also check the WebView crash logs you mentioned to see if anything is being reported after clicking the download option.

Regarding third-party tools, I’ve noticed similar behavior when testing different web-based SlideShare downloaders as well. For reference, one of the browser-based tools I tried was https://downloderslides.com/, and the issue still seemed inconsistent on mobile, which makes me think this could indeed be more of a mobile browser/WebView limitation rather than a device-specific NOS bug.

I’ll continue testing with Brave and desktop mode enabled and see if that stabilizes things. Thanks again for the helpful pointers!
