If you’re noticing high battery drain on Nothing OS 4.0, check your SIM settings. I found that the Smart 5G toggle has been removed in this update.

Previously, Smart 5G would save battery by dropping to 4G during light tasks or when idle. Now, the phone stays locked to 5G Standalone (if enabled), which is much more power-hungry and causes the modem to run warmer.

This missing optimization is likely why the ‘idle drain’ is so high on this build. As a temporary fix, you can try manually switching your Preferred Network Type to 4G when you don’t need high speeds to see if your screen-on time improves.

If you’re experiencing fast battery drain on Nothing OS 4.0, we can help identify the cause with some quick diagnostics. I am currently compiling a technical report to send directly to the Nothing R&D (Research and Development) Department, so your data is essential.

Please share two screenshots from your Battery usage section as soon as possible:

To get there: Go to Settings > Battery > Battery usage.

Please send both views:

View by apps: This shows if a specific app (like Instagram) is leaking power in the background.

View by systems: This is the most important for R&D. It identifies if core services like the Mobile network, CPU, or the new Lock Glimpse feature are failing.

Why this matters:

If we find a specific system service is the culprit (like the known Lock Glimpse restart loop), I will add your case to the ongoing (case ticket:1544306) official report so the R&D team can include a fix in the next hotfix.

In the meantime, once we see your stats, we can suggest temporary settings to help ‘close the pipe’ on your battery drain.

Jozf Benestin🇮🇳 naah bro its not missing it wan never there , it always said 5g standalone but have turned it off ever since. The battery drain is high for idk, whenever I use my phone for light tasks or keep on homescreen it drains like water through a real big pipe, and when I use it for heavy tasks i goes on till my life, it is best when used so I think the app optimisation option did it cuz it optimized it for apps and not for homescreen and system apps igot an average of 4.5 mins per percentage while using my phone mixed-ish like using system apps more and homescreen than others, and I got 8 to 10 min average when I used others, so 5g does not matter fr, but optimization does, it matters the most, maybe we should all try to get this issue to the devs at the hq, camera uses alot of battery more than any other applications, if you wanna learn more follow me and maybe talk in private or right here, i analysed alot in this phone than me myself

Jozf Benestin🇮🇳 in video camera I saw some fluctuations, the battery drains the most on ui and system apps, images get more over processed after update, page written things got darker, speaker quality got reduced, ultravolume doesn’t work, it lagged, youtube gets crashed or doesn’t have the video playing in background after i switch to other appes for some minutes or launch applications, and many more, maybe coming soon? 🙃, and i yes there wan an option for smart 5g, that’s right

Kaman_anand that sounds weird actually I don’t have any speaker quality issues and the volume booster is working properly and yahh there are some problems with the camera post processing and also the video and also there is heavy color shifting during shifting btw sensors. And on my device there is no issues with YouTube, maybe the send if you with your YouTube app. Plz try factory resetting your device only of you can 🙂. It may fix some issues.

Kaman_anand bro I told you to factory reset because there will be some old junk files from nothing OS 3.2 based on Android 15 now on your device so it will interfere with your current Android 16 Nothing OS 4.0 so this may effect your battery life and some other performance issues so resetting your device will actually solve some issues but not all. You can reset your device why saving or backup your photos to Google photos and other files to any cloud services and you can retrieve it once you set up your device again. Or you can save to your computer….

Firmware (bot) did anyone face camera lag issue. Today i took some photos at night but on 2-3 photo and back to WhatsApp frame drop appears and camera app get lag.

My phone not get overhead or warm becoz now delhi temp is 10 degrees and I have 8-256 varient with almost 70 % free storage

Earlier, there used to be a haptics response when we try to unlock any app using fingerprint and the fingerprint doesn’t matches, it is removed in the 4.0 update, instead we have to turn on the haptics response for touch and more but it makes your phone as if it’s a vibrator, it will vibrate on each and every touch. Hope it gets fixed by some patch update.

I disabled lock glimpse through adb and it try to start when screen wakes up/ pressing power button… but this latest update doesn’t make lock glimpse to start continuously in 3 sec intervals … i also removed that power button/screen wake trigger and it doesn’t try to start app now… if you’ve access to pc you can try it ..

I am also attachinga screenshot from accu battery which shows that battery drain rate per hour is the most for the nothing launcher and this is because of the NOS 4 update
