When Nothing launched its first product in India, I purchased it with pride (Date: 17-08-2021). I was genuinely impressed with the sound quality and quickly became a fan of the brand. However, after two years of use, the earbud cover on the left side of my Ear (1) detached.
I contacted customer care and visited the service center for the free device check-up offered for Nothing products (on 11-09-2023). Unfortunately, I was informed that this issue was not covered under any warranty. Even more disappointing was that they refused to repair it, even though I was willing to pay for the service.
If your own service centers cannot repair your products, then who can? What is the purpose of having service centers if basic repairs aren’t supported? I want to clarify that I never tampered with or attempted to open the earbuds — the detachment clearly appears to be due to poor adhesive or build quality. I strongly believe Nothing should take responsibility for this issue.
At that time, I was offered a deal to exchange my old earbuds for the newer Ear (2), and I decided to go ahead with the offer.
However, after just a few months of use, I am now facing the exact same issue again — the earbud cover has detached. It’s frustrating to see that this design flaw still exists in the latest product. It appears that Nothing has not taken customer feedback seriously or addressed this recurring issue. Despite knowing where the fault lies, customers are still being given the same standard response.
I’ve attached images of both my original Ear (1) and current Ear (2) to clearly show the problem. I sincerely hope that Nothing takes this feedback seriously and works toward providing a permanent solution and better customer support.
Hope the company listens to customers’ genuine experiences, as CEO Carl Pei is known for valuing customer reviews and resolving issues. Let’s hope this doesn’t happen with future products.
Additionally, I miss the ear tap feature that was present in the Nothing Ear (1) — the single tap, double tap for receiving calls, and swipe up/down for volume control. Currently, pressing the button on the bottom tip is inconvenient and tricky, especially for those with broader fingers. Please consider bringing back this feature as it is a time-saver and more user-friendly
