Since the OTA operating system update late last year, mobile signature and banking PIN verification no longer works on my Nothing 3a - my phone no longer receives/shows the messages sent by my bank or other sites prompting me to enter PIN codes. In Lithuania where I live, this means I cannot log into my online banking, digitally sign legal contracts or access various essential online government services using this phone. The only option is to remove the SIM and place it in an old (non-Nothing) handset, which works perfectly. I have now contacted Nothing “support” on three separate occasions, been assured that the engineers know of the problem and that they are working on it. Each time, I have been told I will receive an update via email, and each time no update has arrived. On one occasion, they sent an email saying they were closing the (still unresolved) request. Without this feature, my phone is essentially a useless EUR 400 brick. Despite the problem being of Nothing’s own making - the feature worked fine prior to the update - the company appears to show little urgency about fixing it or providing customer service/updates on progress. Online chat (which assured me I was speaking to a human, but shows little sign of being anything more than a bot) has proved entirely unhelpful and frustrating.
“Welcome to Nothing” initially felt tongue-in-cheek. Now it feels quite literal.
