Pop up style windows shouldn’t come out as an app while swiping up into Recents Menu for clean UI experience.
This is a weird behaviour since Android 12 came. I was a pixel user at the time. Matter of fact I’m the one who pointed out to Pixel feedback team while I was enrolled in their beta program.
Pop up windows like glyph timer or anything should not come out as an app window. It’s a bad UI behaviour.
So Stock Android used to have this same problem with Google assistant from the home screen. If you bring up the Google assistant and try to go to recents menu, instead showing a closing down animation, it just comes out as an app window in the recents. It looks unaesthetic and looks very weird/ glitchy. I gave feedback to Google team while on Android 13 and they finally fixed it when the pushed out the stable Android 13. Now Google assistant doesn’t come out as an app in the recents menu until you start typing in it. Atleast it is half fixed.
Nothing please prevent pop up windows from going into recents app menu windows. It looks very odd.
Places to fix:
- Glyph timer pop up window from quicksettings panel.
- Nearby share window acts the same.
- Google assistant when something is typed acts the same behaviour.
- Battery share pop up window also acts the same.
- Basically anything with pop up window or overlay behaviour.
Actually going into recents menu must be prevented for these scenarios and it should show a close animation instead
Correct behaviour ✅ for overlays or pop up windows.
It should show close animation when trying to switch to recents app menu.
Video below shows the correct UI behaviour that should be implemented.
Wrong and ugly UI behaviour ❌
Pop up windows or overlays coming out as an app on recents menu.

Nothing I hope you guys fix this. Thank you. ❤️
