For this concept, the larger Glyph Matrix wasn’t meant to replace the screen or AOD, but to explore a different kind of interaction, something more ambient and glanceable when the phone isn’t actively in use. I see it less as a problem-solver and more as a layer of personality and expression, which is very much part of Nothing’s design philosophy.
That said, I agree that cost, battery impact, and real-world usability matter a lot. Ideas like side-mounted glyphs or functional buttons doubling as indicators are genuinely interesting middle-ground solutions and worth exploring further.
This concept is more about pushing identity and possibilities rather than proposing a final, market-ready solution, but rational design discussions like this are exactly how better products emerge. Appreciate the thoughtful feedback.
