Hi y’all
I am a Turkish Nothing Phone 2 user and I have an issue with Nothing OS since Nothing OS 2.0 that I wanted to share before Nothing Phone 2 loses update support.
We have raised this issue before but we still don’t have any improvement so I think it’s time to remind again.
TL;DR, Nothing’s custom fonts (NType82 and NDot57/NDot55) does not work when the system language is set to Turkish. Some UI elements have missing characters with Turkish characters (ĞÜŞİÖÇğüşıöç) although the fonts do have those.
1 - Titles
One of the places that Nothing OS use those fonts are titles in system apps. When you use English it uses NType82 or NDot57 depending on which one you choose (you can choose NDot from experimental features settings). In Turkish it just defaults to Inter or Roboto depending on which one is set as your system font. Here’s a comparison.

2 - Widgets
The problem is slightly more complicated with widgets because it uses NDot/NType with some missing characters when it’s set to English but it stops using NType/NDot all together when it’s in Turkish. Like in this example you can see it has some issues with İŞĞşğ (what’s weird is it has some of the Turkish characters correct) in English but it fallbacks to Inter/Roboto in Turkish.

“But but, did you send a feedback before?”
Yes, I did, in 2024. I had some follow ups as well. Here’s my original feedback below, I am not going to share all the conversation:

We even had @adbo raising this concern on one of the quarterly CBO meetings. He was confused and he thought it was an issue with Inter font but at least they knew there is an issue with non-English languages and non-Latin characters.
3 - Other places
There are some other places that Nothing uses those fonts but it’s the same issue with those as well. I didn’t want to make this post longer for those little places, you get the idea.
“Couldn’t you do something like NDot JP?”
That was my initial plan before sending my initial feedback. But to my surprise when I opened the font editor I saw that the fonts already had those characters so the only issue was Nothing ignoring/not using them.
You can see the Turkish characters in macOS’ font utility with NDot and NType below:

It shows there are some missing characters but that’s not correct. When you use an online OTF viewer you can actually see it has all the characters and Turkish is not listed under supported languages:

Final words
If you’re Turkish and you bought a Nothing phone (it might even be made in Turkey, Nothing has a manufacturing plant in Turkey that makes CMF Phone 1’s) you should either not use your main language to have the UI experience Nothing is intended or you miss out all that.
Or Nothing should fix this. It’s 2026, phones should not have any issues with languages.
Mods, please do not merge this with other threads. I don’t want this to be lost in tons of messages under other bug reports.
