(Phone 2) Always on display turns off intermittently

I have had this issue since I bought the phone but waited to see if it gets fixed in the newer updates (Thought just a software bug) but unfortunately it doesn’t seem like it.

So, let’s say I used the phone then locked it and kept it on the side. It is lying there (Always on display is visible with quick widgets) flat for some time, nothing blocking the sensors (open space/office table/dinning table) or anything of that sort. After a while when I glance at the phone to check if there are any notifications through the always on display, the screen is black! I tap the screen but it doesn’t come on, keep tapping, nothing!? I have to physically press the power button to wake it up.

Hence, I ask the community if they faced a similar issue or is it just normal behaviour?

No. I did not encounter such a problem.

I’ve had similar issues with my NP2. In my case, I believe this was due the particular case I had fitted was partially obstructing the front proximity sensor thinking it was in my pocket. This was verified by the issue not replicated with the case off. I modified my case slightly and it has improved it 90%, not sure if the problem would go away with an official NP2 case as I haven’t bought one. It seems like the front proximity sensor is way too close to the edge (on my phone anyway).

Kempster Interesting although mine does not seem to cover anything. Also, if it were to cover and black out the display, tap to wake the screen should work, right? Or is it possibly assuming that the phone is in pocket when the sensor is covered and not allowing tap to wake accidentally? 🤔

I have been facing the exact issue. This was not always the case though, this issue started occuring about a month ago where the screen just sleeps even when AOD is on. The tap to wake does not work and I’m not able to unlock the phone via AOD like I used to before.

AbhijitG If you are using a case, then try removing the case and see if the issue persists then you can be sure if the case is causing the issue as the sensors are way up there towards the top of the phone.

Been experiencing the same issue on my 2a. Hopefully it can and will be fixed soon because it’s both annoying and embarrassing

I had this problem with my np2 which wasn’t there until I put on the tempered glass. It was all well and good but after around 6months or so, it started to auto-activate the proximity sensor. Then I frantically started looking up for fixes but nothing worked.

Then installed a proxymity testing app and it showed that the sensor was on, the whole time. I took a wet tissue paper and wiped the dust off the crevices of the tempered glass and display across the speaker grill area and it fixed the problem right away!

Maybe it’s only me who’s got this problem now but who knows if somebody still have the same problem🙂
