Been following the Nothing journey for over 5 years and I can say for sure that every phone feels unique in its own way … and now, as an owner of the Phone 4a Pro, I am willing to overlook some of the design based aspects that were there in the Phone 3 but couldn’t make it over to the 4a Pro (like the transparent backpanel, the Nothing design etc.). All in all, I’m a happy customer and that’s what matters to me for now.
Coming back to why I started this message really - iPhone introduced dynamic island and the older versions of Android had a spectrogram/visualizer that made it stand out. Given that Nothing’s sort of pivoting into a back display sort of environment for useful stuff (which to my mind, is honestly, an incredible strategy), there is a potential to include a waveform like display for all sorts of audio being played, to complement its existing use case. For the Nothing Phone 4a, the red button can be configured to capture the bass/low frequencies and the higher up can be used for the higher frequencies.
Unfortunately, this strategy won’t make it over if the Nothing team decides to pivot back to glyph lights but I’m personally the kind of person who believes in making hay while the sun shines so … I guess native waveform support sounds like a good deal.
