Camera Quality Issues & Lag After Nothing OS 4.0 March Update (Phone 3a Pro)

Hi Everyone,

I am writing this to bring attention to some serious issues I’ve been facing with my Nothing Phone (3a) Pro since the recent Nothing OS 4.0 March Update.

Before the update, the camera was performing exceptionally well. However, post-update, the experience has become quite frustrating:

• Blurry Images: Photos are lacking sharpness and coming out noticeably blurry, even in good lighting conditions.

• Camera Lag: There is a significant delay/lag when switching modes or clicking pictures, making it hard to capture moments instantly.

• Focus Issues: The camera struggles to lock focus on subjects, which wasn’t an issue before.

Is anyone else experiencing this on their 3a Pro? I hope the Nothing Team sees this and provides a fix As Soon As Possible. A device with this potential shouldn’t be held back by software optimization issues.

Sahil khan 🇮🇳 I’ve been noticing something similar after the March update on my Phone (3a) Pro.

In my case the biggest issue is the shutter delay and the longer post-processing time. It feels noticeably slower than before.

Capturing moving subjects has been a bit challenging for some time — even moderately moving objects can come out blurry. I first noticed it after the previous update, and it doesn’t seem to have improved in the latest one.

I’m curious if others are experiencing the same behavior. Hopefully the team can look into this, because the camera performance before the update was actually very solid.

In nothing phone 2, 4K video recording shows frame drops / stutter in preview

Sometimes the recorded video is also slightly jittery

Issue is more noticeable after recent firmware updates 4.0

Third-party camera apps (like GCam and Secure camera from playstore) often work smoother

Nothing copying Samsung and downgrading cameras to make their newer phones look better

Which is silly because the 4a has the exact same main camera (Samsung GN9) as the 2a and 3a yet the photo output isn’t the same

GCam proves the camera is far better then the stock software suggests

YoshiMK I tried gcam and I didn’t notice any difference in image quality. I’ve noticed that everyone seems to have different problems with updates. For example, I didn’t have a battery problem with the last update but now I do.

I think everybody should report their problems via feedback option in settings and also provide the logs if possible. I reported my issue after December Patch update and they fixed it in the March. But I think our 3a series phones had a better camera quality when we first bought them
