Hi There 👋
Nothing have given me the chance of reviewing the Nothing Phone (4a) Early as part of the community review programme and here are my first impressions so far!
Design
This is classic nothing. The clear back with different textures and patterns make this a statement piece in the Nothing portfolio. The camera layout does feel a bit outdated and seems to not have changed since phone (2a) and (3a).
Glyths
I’m not sure how I feel about the new glyth bar, it’s definitely an improvement over the glyth dot featured on the (3a) Lite and allows more customisation and features, however I feel like glyth matrix is the best implementation of being able to show information without needing to turn the phone on
Battery
Battery life is very solid and honestly, for the size this phone is, so it should be. I’ve not had to worry about looking for a outlet to charge this phone during the day so far!
Display
The display is more than big enough to view content and gets very bright outdoors. Colours do pop and text is readable. No issues here.
Cameras
I did some testing of different subjects to get a overall idea of performance and honestly, it’s very hit or miss. Some shots come out looking more than usable for socials and overall viewing and sharing however some shots like macro or zoomed in looks grainy and not the best. Hopefully this will improve with software as I think the Hardware is very solid. Video quality is okay for social media like Snapchat but I wouldn’t rely on it for creating content or professional filming

Performance
Overall, this phone is very smooth and allows me to multitask though apps and I haven’t experienced any lag during normal use. Gaming however is okay for general gaming but if you’re wanting to play AAA titles on high settings, this isn’t the best option.
Final thoughs
Overall, I’m very impressed with this. I’m excited to see what updates will do to help out with bugs and small issues but this is a very solid phone and for the asking price, this is definitely a option you will want to consider.
Thank you for reading if you got this far ♥️ I’ve never done a review like this before so please share any comments and advice 😄
For those who might not know me, I’m Billy. I’ve been a fan of nothing since the very start and I’ve been first in line for a few launches (2a Special Edition and 3a Lite) and even queued overnight in London as part of the phone (3) launch! I’ve been apart of feedback programmes for companies like Twitter and more recently, Superdrug UK
