People, I hope I can share my happiness and excitement through this post, because I genuinely cannot contain it.
I got the Nothing Phone 3 on the 9th of this month for myself as a rather simple birthday gift to myself, and oh my god, I am blown away.
I was on the OnePlus Nord CE 3 Lite running OxygenOS 15, which honestly had some interesting features, the File Dock, a (rather poorly implemented) Dynamic Island clone, decent AI features in the Notes app, and so on. Before making the switch, I had also heard a lot of people say that Nothing OS is “boring” and makes you use your phone less. I was skeptical.
I had briefly used Nothing OS when a friend got the Phone 2 but I think it ran the nothing OS 3, and being honest I had felt like the OS isn’t mature yet, but never really gave it a fair shot. That changes now. Now that I use it…
Nothing OS isn’t boring. It’s intentional. And there’s a difference.
The little things hit differently, the way other notification banners gracefully shift as you dismiss one, or the ripple effect on the Spotify widget when you like a song or interact with playback controls. These aren’t gimmicks. This is genuine attention to detail, and it shows.
The OS is clean, the options are easy to understand, and nothing feels bloated or buried. It just works elegantly.
The AI on Nothing Phone 3 is not there to generate noise, like in Samsung [Imma be straightforward XD], or Xiaomi, or even OnePlus where it’s mainly just slop. In the Nothing OS it’s thoughtful, well-placed, and actually enhances how you use the phone rather than getting in the way. In a world full of AI features that exist just to check a box, this stands out as genuinely mindful and useful. Huge respect to the team for this.
The Camera is just Genuinely Insane
The portrait shots I’ve taken feel like they came out of a DSLR. I’m not exaggerating. The Glyph Mirror photos are also incredibly charming and the ability to link custom Glyph lighting profiles to contacts’ photos is such an unconventional, delightful idea. I love it.
The Recording app and Photos app are both polished and a pleasure to use. And have such a beautiful aesthetic to it.
I’ve already started using Essential Space to mindfully save events and moments, and I can already tell this is going to become a core part of how I use this phone. Can’t wait for the companion website to roll out the potential here is massive. And I am just in awe thinking of how this could be used to improve the experience which already is just mindblowing!
And to speak of the hardware, It feels like an absolute flagship in the hand. The build, the weight, the feel, everything just reinforces that this is a premium device. I cannot praise it enough.

Why is the Nothing Community not available as a dedicated app? It would go such a long way, both for engagement and for making this incredible community even more accessible. Please make it happen!
To everyone here, and to the team at Nothing, thank you so much for building something this special. The fact that there is a dedicated community that works with the company and the OS to make it more polished played a big part in my decision, and I’m so glad I made the decision.
And that ends my small write up, just sharing my excitement and absolute delight in making the biggest purchase of my life, since I’ve gotten a job, and getting one of the best gifts I could for myself!
