Hi there. We’re glad to finally introduce the Nothing Phone (4a).
From the design to the operating system, this model continues the soul of the Phone (a) series while introducing new inspirations that move the experience meaningfully forward. We’ve tried to blend familiar reliability with fresh breakthroughs to create something both playful and refined.
We hope you enjoy using it. Here is what’s new in NOS 4.1:
New Features
🧘♀️ Breathing Break widgets are now available in the widget library, offering guided exercises to help you follow a breathing pace and relax.
⏲️ Introduced the lock screen clock face from Phone (3a) Community Edition, co-created with the community member Jad Zock, featuring an exclusive typeface style and unique waking-up effect.
↔️ Lock screen clock face now supports adjusting size and alignment in Customisation.
🎧 The status bar now displays the dedicated icon of Nothing headphones when connected.
🪀 Essential Apps now features a recommendation section in the widget library, providing quicker access to the Nothing Playground to discover AI-powered community creations.
Glyph Interface
💬 Essential Notifications settings UI has been reworked with a cleaner look and descriptions for easier use.
🔔 Generative ringtone is now available, offering more unique sounds and Glyph patterns for Ringtones and Notifications.
Camera Enhancements
🛝 Playground x Preset Integration: One-tap import of presets from Playground directly into the Camera app.
🎨 New presets: Added Amber portrait preset and India-exclusive Cricket preset/watermark (available for India model).
📔 Preset widget: Enhanced the 2×2 Camera widget with swipe-to-select presets and 2×1 and 1×1 resizing.
🔋 Power saving recording: The screen now automatically dims during video capture when the device remains stationary and inactive to reduce battery usage. You can turn this toggle off in Camera settings.
📸 Speed & UI: Reduced shutter lag for faster burst shooting, and refined icons and UI animations for smoother operation.
🌈 Refined Foundation: Comprehensive optimisations to exposure, colour accuracy, and HDR processing, delivering more authentic textures and superior dynamic range across all lighting conditions.
🦚 Enhanced Details: Upgraded algorithms for night scenes, portrait bokeh, and high-magnification zoom to ensure clarity and natural transitions in every shot.
General Improvements and Bug Fixes
📰 Added an Essential Notifications entry in Settings for easier access. Find it via: Settings > Notifications > Essential Notifications.
🔋 Optimized Settings descriptions to clearly indicate features affected when Battery Saver is on.
📶 Enhanced overall network stability.
⚙️ Enhanced overall system stability and smoothness.
📱 Fixed some abnormal display issues in Quick Settings and the status bar.
