Hi everyone,
I’m trying to figure out why my Nothing Phone (2) charges slowly from my power bank even though everything should support fast charging.
My setup:• Phone: Nothing Phone (2)• Power bank: UGREEN 130W / 20,000mAh power bank (supports USB-PD + PPS)• Cable: UGREEN 240W USB-C cable with a digital power display
The phone supports up to 45W PPS charging, and the power bank also advertises PPS support, so on paper this setup should be able to fast charge.
However, when charging from the power bank, the cable consistently shows around:
≈ 8.7–9.0V≈ 1.5A≈ 13–14W
It never goes above ~13.5W.
Things I already tried:• Using the USB-C1 port (100W port) on the power bank• Charging while the phone is turned completely off• Charging from very low battery (~1%)• Disabling battery optimization / protection settings• Replugging the cable to force renegotiation
Despite this, the phone always seems to fall back to standard PD (~9V) instead of using PPS.
My questions:
Has anyone successfully fast-charged the Phone (2) from a power bank using PPS?
Does the Phone (2) require a very specific PPS profile to reach higher charging speeds?
Is it normal for the phone to fall back to ~13–15W with some PPS power banks?
Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks!
