I’m fortunate enough to be part of the community review program for Phone (4a) Pro and part of that has been exploring the Essential Space which has been revamped, with the most notable element for me being the split to have “For You” and “Library”. I find this specifically useful as I’m able to quickly capture my thoughts and content to my library, but summarize any actions I need to take with a glance at the “For You” tab.
A highlight for me has been the development of the Essential Space to really act as an assistant to me. A lot of my life revolves around managing my own thoughts, so being able to quickly capture a thought on different notes apps has always been a part of my workflow. Essential Space serves as another place for me to capture my thoughts, but also able to infer and collate information from screenshots of other apps I use (Such as Keep, Excel or docs).
A perfect example of this Essential Space enabled workflow came up this weekend. Cooking is something I really enjoy doing, and smoking food is a recent new venture for me and is one that often requires a lot of monitoring, timing and putting different things on throughout the day. As such I used Excel to list out the different recipes I was using & then bring together the timings into one list of actions to take throughout the day.

Having shared this with my wife, I took a Essential quick screen capture of the plan to keep with my notes. To my surprise (even though I knew the Essential Space could set reminders and events), each of these rows had been converted into a To-Do task & added to my Google Calendar with reminders coming through on my device, but also due to my Google Account being linked to my Home devices, I was receiving reminders on my kitchen display where I was based for most of the day!

This was a clear demonstration to me that I could embrace Essential Space on (4a) Pro in a more varied way bridging an idea/plan into actionable items, saving the creation of each of these events by hand and enabling me to get on and prepare the food!
