Hi everyone! I’ve spent the last few days fighting for our Phone (2) with Nothing Support. I have some big news to share. After several rounds of emails, the support team officially acknowledged: The Hardware is CAPABLE: They admitted the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 can easily handle Android 17 and beyond. Flagship Priority: They agreed that dropping a flagship while supporting mid-range devices (Phone 2a) is a ‘valid point’ that needs attention. High-Level Escalation: This case is now with the Senior Product Management team with high priority. Check the screenshots below for the proof. They told me: 'We’re listening, and we look forward to addressing the community’s concerns.' This is a win for all of us. Let’s keep this thread active so they can’t ignore us! RajdevAditya yeah you can already download the beta version from the official Android web . The Android 17 will come in NOTHINGOS in late 2026.or maybe even in 2027

Vwoorp_000 Well you are in a community , ofcourse we are flooding our thoughts and wishes here ! Nothing wrong in demanding support for the devices that were community driven . One reply is not gonna change everything , people here were speculating the capability of the the phone 2’s chipset that can easily support an upgrade. Not like the phone 1 with a 7 series midrange chipset. So stop criticising A comment, rather see the number of users wanting a update.

The Phone (1) is perfectly capable of running Android 17. It’s about as fast as the Google Tensor G2 (Pixel 7). The Tensor G2 has been on Android 17 since June with no issues (apart from Android 17 issues, but that’s another story). Nothing’s update strategy was absolutely perfectly clear from the start (July 2023) - three major OS updates. They delivered on that.

If we keep asking about the Phone (2), then why not include the Phone (1)? Perpetual updates forever for all phones? Again, Android 17 brings zero meaningful new features, it’s just some polish of Android 16 plus a lot of AI crap, so you’re not missing anything at all.

JP If someone asks whether their device will get the next update, you/we can now just point them to the Device section on the Nothing Archive website. It now shows the Android version and Nothing OS version each device launched with, along with how many years of Android and security updates it’s eligible for. But lets be honest, people will probably still ask, “Will I get the update?” evem after being referred there anyway. 😂

Released in 2024 with Android 14, it was advertised with two major OS updates and three years of security updates. So Android 16 (OS 4.0) was the second and last major update, security updates will be provided until summer 2027.

grepGander App bubbles (which no, are not the same thing as the bubbles Android has as you mentioned above. You can bubble entire apps now), system wide transparency, revamped quick settings options, notification organization, native gamepad mapping, deeper homescreen customization, etc, etc…

Youre either horribly misinformed as to what is actually included in Android 17, or youre being ignorant on purpose to keep sucking off Nothing. Either way, its embarassing.
