Nothing Phone 3 Overheating Issue

My Nothing Phone 3 has been getting very hot for a while now. The hottest part is where the Glyph Matrix and the camera are located. Sometimes I’m afraid it might catch fire in my hand, it gets that hot. What could be the cause of this and how can I fix it?

I never had this problem with the Phone 2, but I’ve been experiencing it with this phone for about two or three months now. I thought the overheating might be due to the Glyph Matrix, so I disabled it, but that wasn’t the cause. The phone is giving an overheating warning almost every day.

(I don’t use my phone whilst it’s charging, nor do I play demanding games. It even gets hot when I update apps from the Play Store.)

Eren 👁️ Man you got me think twice, i’m about to buy this phone and then reading your post. You are right, i used to have Phone 2 and i dont have any overheating issues. Do you use your Phone 3 outdoor under the sunlight or what ? Is it really overheating in normal uses ?

There seems to be wrong with your phone if it happens during regular use (no heavy gaming, no fast charging). Does your battery drain faster than it used to? There could possibly be some app constantly using processing power which leads to a hot phone, however if that’s not the case and you can’t find anything suspicious, it might be best to contact Nothing’s customer service and ask for further instructions.

I can imagine they might suggest a full factory reset to rule out a software issue, so that may be something you’d give a try.

Uruseiiii I noticed that too!! whenever I turned on hotspot, it was getting pretty hot, and that’s a big concern for me as I want to use the phone for very long and heating up just degrades everything very quick

Eren 👁️ Ah yes, Nothing taking their own “nothing is happening” philosophy a bit too seriously.Really hoping this delay means they’re actually fixing the heating… because right now the phone feels more like a pocket heater than a flagship.And if the update comes and it’s still heating like this, then yeah… I guess the brand name finally makes sense.

I think heating issue is usually caused by poor network signal, background apps. Try switching to 4G, turning airplane mode on and off once, and checking battery usage to remove any app running in the background. If it still overheats daily, it could be a software or hardware problem, so a factory reset or service check is recommended.

See mine, it’s hell and I have reported also, they came back directly don’t use while charging, i never tried while charging, if I try I know phone and me blast

Dimas My NP3 doesn’t get hot in any regular use: Browsing, videos, chatting and so on. I haven’t tried it with hotspot enabled, but of course hotspot will put additional heat to all components. Same goes when device is getting charged.

What is this latest update you are referring to? NOS 4.1? Im on the Jan 2026 patch and no heating issues on my phone 3.

My NP3 doesn’t heat as such but it stays slightly warm in normal usage. I don’t have an IR thermometer to measure but my previous phone, Samsung S23, a compact phone would reach similar tempratures on excessive usage only.

What’s the manufacturing date of your phone? I have a feeling that there’s a batch which has strange issues, like heating and bluetooth.

Coldpaw Yeah, using phone while charging and hotspot turning on is causing heat to the phone. But when i read some users complain about overheating on normal use, thats not good. Hopefully the team will release an update to solve this issue. Maybe NOS 4.1 update will solve this.
