I have a plan to buy NP2. The camera isn’t my priority. Considering it for its boxy design and mainly for content consumption?

If camera and gaming aren’t your highest priority, NP2 is still a great pick for its unique design and refreshing user experience with decent camera setup.

Here are the major Pros and Cons in my experience with Phone (2) in last few months.

Pros:

Solid performance and butter smooth UI - no lag anywhere, can easily handle games with higher graphic settings.

Cool widgets and customisation options.

Head turning looks and very well implemented Glyph functionalities.

Good battery backup, easily lasts till evening with heavy usage

Great signal reception - I’m getting stable 5G connectivity with NP2 where other phones were struggling to receive signals

Cons:

Major con is its HDR playback capabilities - Not only that NP2 doesn’t support HDR in Netflix, but also in YouTube and Hotstar the screen becomes very dim making it hard to watch the hdr content even when brightness is set to max. (Issue is only with HDR content, otherwise good experience with usual video streaming)

Gaming mode in this one isn’t much of use (No taking calls in background, no brightness lock, or such other gaming mode features)

Have to spend extra for power adapter and protective case as not included in package

Sahil_aGH4I8eykz As someone mentioned earlier, the Phone 2 sold in India has troublesome manufacturing & quality issues.

Play it safe & get the Oneplus 12R,great phone, much better than Phone 2.

Sahil_aGH4I8eykz no recently I am facing colour issue in nothing phone 2 camera and I think so they are degrading there camera quality

If a good software isn’t your priority and you are tight on budget then you can get a 8 gen 2 for around 40 but considering it’s price NP.2 is the best considering software experience and a still flagship chip.

Yes, still a good buy.

I’m really pleased with battery life / os optimization. It’s very smooth, no lags etc.
Camera could be sometimes better, I saw there’s sometimes heavy post-processing, but it may be (or not) fixed in a software update.

Like most things does it suit your needs, does your budget cover the out lay on the device.

I got a really good deal with a unlimited data contract on 2 year contract in the UK, I was on a sim only contract over 2 year’s the after 9 month’s of issues with the so called UK best network, a line manager put me on a monthly rolling contract. So I got my NP2 & sim for a third less then I was paying for a sim only contract. I just wanted a stable device that suited my needs. The lights on the back I’m not interested in, I got a phone case the covers the back only cameras mic camera lights are visible. So for me it was worth it and the cost of the NP2 has since gone up in price by £80. (256GB version)

Shop around look for deals on sim free or a sim package. Yes there’s are better, smaller, bigger cheaper devices it’s your choice. There bug’s like all other manufacturers products. So if you can afford the cost outright shop around to get good deal go for the NP2 and depending on where in the world you are also.

After having iphone12/13/14 Pro max and now with Nothing Phone 2 and Huawei Mate 60 Pro (another story), i would say that the UI in nothing is pretty unique amongst android phones (some are simliar but the design is different). A lot of people complain about camera, so if that’s your main priority then something like Nubia Z60 Ultra or Oneplus 12 might be a better fit at similar price points.

The only pattern i see complaints about Nothing phones in general is that they seem to be from phones that are manufactured in India for Indian markets. They experienced more glitches, and unexplained issues that i don’t see on my phone.

I’m a Brit living in Thailand and brought mine here. Not sure what region it was manufactured in, but other than wanting a better camera, I’m very pleased with it and had no issues at all in the 3 months that I’ve had it with daily use at both work and home. As someone else mentioned the battery life is a paticular strong point, the size is just right, some of the notifications sound like a robot with diarrhea and the glyph interface can be a bit overpowering at times - but I am sure others really like these. I certainly don’t regret purchasing it.

Gun_Put Phone1 did have some quality issues but its extremely rare in Phone2. I got mine last month and its absolutely flawless. IMO Phone2 is a better buy than the 12R. You get the 512GB variant for cheaper, better design, better software and wireless charging too. Its a much more unique phone too with its own identity unlike the ugly blob of the 12R.

@Gun_Put I will recommend to get back camera lens protectors, I dropped mine literally around 6ft & ultra-wide lens shattered to bits. Damaged Phones are not covered under warranty, In my case As i am in UAE, no repairs no parts available.

How is the phone now many months later?

I have read lots on here of bad software support and updates causing huge battery drain, I don’t like the sound of updates breaking phone functionality or degrading features.

Those of you who would be kind enough to respond, would you recommend this phone in its current state?

Do you believe Nothing will continue to improve issues with updates?

CanOfFanta7 You are welcome to check the answered above as your thread was merged. As of my opinion about it, speaking from my own experience, I continue to appreciate my Phone (2) greatly. The updates come regularly, and the software team shows a genuine responsiveness to user feedback. Nevertheless, as with any software, bugs do arise and get resolved constantly. The crucial aspect lies in the adeptness of the software team in addressing and fixing these issues, which they handle quite well IMO.

Sahil_aGH4I8eykz I’ve been using phone 2 for a month now and it’s been fantastic great battery life , very fast and reliable os , good cameras and great chipset although it’s not the newest but it’s fine , But there are some problems too like the battery status is totally bugged after android 14 update or I’ve heard some news about bad camera quality after updates (not for me though) but none of these are not deal-breakers .
