Working in telecom, most people that spend 1000 to 2000 USD on folding phones end up ruining the screen within 1 year. If they don’t have insurance on the device, they need to buy out their phone to get into another one if they are a glutton for punishment, or move to a different phone.
Folding phones are niche and novelty at best. As I tell clients - Yeah, they are cool and all, but you won’t catch me spending that kind of money until you introduce me to the physicist that can fold REAL glass 180 degrees. Until then - nope!
I think the only company that showed up to the game way too late was Microsoft - the only thing good about their “folding” phone was that it was two separate screens, and had the BEST hinge.
Until then, my 4(a) is perfect for my daily use and still turns heads :-)
