Nothing OS & Android 17 - Feature Wishlist

With QPR3 on Pixel Phones’s QPR3 Android 17 release I wonder what features will NothingOS adopt:

Desktop mode?
Working Linux Terminal? It is not working right now due to “Non-protected VMs are not supported on this device” error.
Lockscreen widgets?

someoneodd Desktop mode will not work on existing phones because the usb port is too weak(2.0 in most models,i don’t know what has with 4a&pro),

I also hope they let us use the terminal, it’s a “basic” feature for users like a large part of the community (from what I see… 😅)

Can you explain more about the lock screen widgets? Currently there is an option to double-click on an empty area…

Anyway, from what I understand, Carl said that update 5.0 will be the biggest since update 3.0(Not too high a bar but.. 😅😕)

someoneodd i think adding more widgets on lockscreen would be awesome. Especially when the Essential Apps that we created on Playground is able to put on the lockscreen.

lolifnotely🇮🇱 , Google added iOS-like lock screen widgets, where you swipe to left on the lock screen to look on widgets. Haven’t found any good example of this but here is How to Geek tutorial with screenshots: https://www.howtogeek.com/android-lock-screen-widgets-how-they-work.

lolifnotely🇮🇱 yeah they have the same usb generation in all of their devices even their flagship NP3, i don’t think desktop mode is possible rn for these devices….

Is it possible for them to allow all of their camera lenses to use across other apps like boackmagic? That could be somewhat helpful…

lolifnotely🇮🇱 All you will see is 2 new clock faces and one absolutely unique feature (half backed) ,like the Nothing playground , that will remain in the Alpha for 4 months , and in beta for rest of the year

Vishalkumarbilla Yeah, all Nothing devices currently have USB Type C 2.0 OTG, which doesn’t have the power requirements to use desktop mode.

instead of desktop mode, they can atleast add a remote control feature that is available in motorola as smart connect
