Hey Gang!
Reading through posts I see a lot of negative comments about Nothing’s line of phones and compatibility with carriers here in the US.
Having been with Nothing for a while now (on my 4(a) and loving it!), I wanted to share my experience and how you can have the same success using Nothing’s devices.
Carrier: If you are on Verizon, be ready to change carriers if you want to use these devices! Nothing clearly states the cellular bands their devices use. You’ll notice one missing: Band 13. Band 13 is LITERALLY the 4G LTE backbone of Verizon. If the device you want to use does not support Band 13, Verizon will not allow it to be used on their network. I have seen many posts of people claiming “Nothing does not say yada yada yada…” Read up on what you are purchasing BEFORE you purchase! It is CLEARLY stated on their tech specs, along with a staunch warning that they cannot guarantee carrier compatibility in the US.
As for AT&T, you will get push back for trying to activate and use a Nothing phone on their network because they can’t “lock” the device to their network - they don’t like that too much.
Your sweet spot is going to be T-Mobile or any of their MVNOs (carriers that offer T-Mobile services like Mint Mobile, Metro, or Google Fi).
Personally I have had the best experience and success with Google Fi. Great customer service, easy setup, and fair pricing - Google actually subsidizes T-Mobile so they can offer top shelf service for a lower price!
This concludes Part I…hope this helps everyone for an easy and smooth start!
