Being part of Nothing’s community review team gave me the chance to spend some time with the Phone (4a) Pro.
But beyond the actual usage, there was one idea that kept coming back to me.💭
The moment I held it in my hands, it reminded me of a device I had picked up a few months earlier: a ThinkPad X1 Carbon (4th Gen).
And no, they’re not related in category at all… but they do share something in terms of feeling.
Both have this kind of metal finish that conveys a sense of precision, simplicity, and quality. That cool touch you get from the material doesn’t feel like just a detail — it feels intentional.
Even small things, like the red recording light, seem to visually echo the iconic red dot found on ThinkPads.
It’s interesting how two products from completely different brands can still match so well when you put them side by side.
Almost as if they share the same design philosophy… without ever trying to.
It made me wonder if this is just me…🤔
