I’m the developer behind Dot Hub for Glyph Matrix, and I’m kicking off a personal 10-Day Challenge: every day for ten days, I’ll try to ship a brand-new feature or animation style into the app and I want your ideas.

Create an animation that uses only a few LEDs, so that the edges of the LED screen are less noticeable. I think it’s better if, when you create an animation, it should be animated for a bit longer, because I sometimes miss the animations on my phone. A useful tool could be to display the next appointment or to write notes that are displayed all the time until you deactivate them.

I would really love a glyph toy on Dot Hub that works like a Pendelum and just spins from side A to side B and back and when you turn your phone the pendelum also moves with it. A simple pendelum is really fun on Glyphs. If you do make a Pendelum, please make it compatible with 4a Pro. Thanks!

I would like to see something that can jump scare someone. Just a random “scary” face thats pops upp and can scare someone and uses sound and some flickering lights.

aFriendNamed5 Health stats are possible and a cool feature in concept. The other things unfortunately not. Android neither has an option to access assistant nor weather data.

Dynamic status alerts for Gemini/other voice assistants.
Like; a pulse when it detects the wake word, a sine wave when it’s listening to your query, a cog-like ‘whirring’ animation when it’s thinking, and a Knight Rider/KITT style pulsing when it’s talking to you.

No idea if that’s even possible, but it’d be cool.

Or, how about a ‘slideshow’ style weather display?
Shake your phone when it’s face down to show the current temp, then after a few seconds show a graphic of the current conditions (sunny, rain etc). Then show humidity level, then percentage chance of rain.

Could even expand on it to show health stats from Google Health/OHealth: First display is step count, followed by last heart rate reading, followed by spo2 level. Again, no idea if that’s possible or not 😅

Make something that lights up the glyph and makes my kid actually look at the phone when I’m taking his picture haha. Just something attention grabbing that I can activate when in the camera app.

Animation

Sand simulation: Dots fall and pile like grains of sand at the bottom of the screen. Tilt the phone to shift the pile to the other side. Limited for phones with glyph interface

Lava lamp: Slow organic dot clusters that merge, split, and drift. Never loops the same way twice.

Visualization

Charging as water fill: Dots rise from the bottom like liquid filling a tank, with a subtle slosh animation when you move the phone.

Music beat-sync starburst: Dots explode outward from the center on every beat, size and speed tied to bass intensity.

Audio spectrum visualizer for Glyph Bar: The LEDs animate as rising/falling bars in sync with audio — music, calls, assistant voice.

Download progress bar: Dots fill up from left to right (or spiral inward) showing real-time download/install progress. Clears when done.

Assistant voice visualizer: When your AI assistant speaks, the Glyph Matrix reacts live to its voice — waves, pulses, or ripples animate in sync with the speech rhythm. Like a music visualizer but triggered only by the assistant’s output, not all audio. For glyph interface, it lights up as the assisstant speaks

Weird/Original

Proximity aura: Using the proximity sensor, dots near the edges glow brighter as your hand or a surface gets close - like the phone senses it’s being reached for.

QoL

Custom glyph pattern per contact: assign a unique dot animation to specific people, so you know who’s calling just by glancing at the back.

AI assistant eyes: Two dot-drawn eyes on the Glyph Matrix that animate when your assistant is listening or speaking — pupils move, blink, and the eyes morph/pulse with the voice like Gemini’s animated orb, but in pixel dot style.

Glyph adaptive fill light for camera: When the camera is open, the phone detects the ambient light level and automatically brightens or dims the Glyph lights accordingly — acting as a natural fill light in dark environments. The darker the surroundings, the brighter the Glyph glows, helping you see and capture better photos without needing a separate flash. Enables both glyphs and flash if surroundings are too dark for phone to capture.

I have an idea, Why not a Don’t look face, just like the widget, but on the glyph matrix? The user would earn “rewards” (Be whatever it may be) the longer the phone is actually flipped?

Make an animation option for a timer that is a hose filling some sort of container. This would be used by people who just want to have a timer specifically for watering their garden or yard. I think the animation style for it would be similar to Nothing’s sand falling timer, but more fluid-like movement.
